The Localist Story

In early 2008, Nate Mook and Myke Nahorniak, Localist’s founders, were in Los Angeles for a conference. Afterwards, they wanted to go out to a cool bar in town.

Once upon a time…

Unfortunately…At the time, there was no way to see where the truly great places were, and equally important, where everyone else at the conference was planning to go.

Localist started as a destination site, serving as a resource for metropolitan areas to help people discover:• All the events that were happening• Who was going• What was going on right now

Localist was born from that problem

Despite huge interest from audiences in our launch cities…

 Creating and curating content was an ongoing challenge. Missing just a single event made keeping visitors returning a challenge.
