Pr 7:6 For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man who lacked judgment, Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house

Pr 7:10 And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart. With a brazen face she said to him: "I have peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows. So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you.

Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life.

Pr 7:24 Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth: Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; For she has cast down many wounded,

The principle of the path: direction, not intention, determines destination. In other words, you reap what you sow.

1. The path to happiness is paved by the practice of Spiritual Disciplines.

2. Spiritual Disciplines are the habits and activities that help us to know God and give God space to work in our lives.

3. The path to happiness is paved with the brick of Bible Reading.

4. The path to happiness is paved with the brick of Daily Prayer.

a. Prayer is given to us in order that we may ask God to provide for our needs, to confess our sins, to worship, and to learn to focus our mind on God.

His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray just as John also taught his disciples." 2 And He said to them, "When you pray, say:

'Father , hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come.

3 'Give us each day our daily bread. 4 'And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.'"

b. Prayer is intended to be a sustained activity throughout the day.

Lk 18:1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,

1Th 5:16 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel pre-vailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

But Moses' hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.

This act became a conduit of God’s power allowing Joshua to defeat the Amalekites…but only while he remained in it
