Unisurrection S-61
The resurrection secret for skin
Temporary version 04-07-2013
Unisurrection S-61
Based on the resurrection plant H. Rhodopensis, it offers a complete protection of the skin.
Unisurrection has a proven efficacy not only at a sub-cellular level, but also at a celullar and skin level through:
‣ Enzyme protection and restructuring‣ Enhancement of keratinocytes viability‣ Visible effect on skin protection: improvement of its hydration and suppleness.
Unisurrection contains extracts of Beta vulgaris (sugar beet), Haberlea rhodopensis (resurrection plant) and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker’s yeast) associated with Glycerin (S-61) or with Butylene Glycol (BG-61).

Skin stress: heat, cold, dryness, UVs,...
Enzyme denaturation‣ loss of their activity
Denatured enzymes
Active enzymes
Damages on keratinocytes‣ Reduction of cells turnover
Consequences on skin:‣ Dehydration‣ Apparition of small wrinkles

Unisurrection S-61
Protection and restructuration of the enzyme isocitrate dehydrogenase (in vitro tests)
Protocol: Unisurrection S-61 was tested for its ability to protect enzymes from Urea (a harmful substance which destroys enzymes’ structure). The demonstration was done on isocitrate dehydrogenase (ICDH), a key enzyme which occurs in the mitochondria of all cells providing them with energy.
Result: Unisurrection S-61 provides a protecting and restructuring effect on ICDH.

*ICDH: Isocitrate dehydrogenase is a key enzyme of the citric acid cycle which occurs in the mitochondrial of all cells providing them energy.**Urea is a chaotropic substance which can inhibit or even destroy enzyme activity.

Maintaining the enzyme activity by protecting its structure (in vitro tests)
Protocol: Unisurrection S-61 was tested for its ability to protect enzymes from urea (a chaotropic substance). The demonstration was done on isocitrate dehydrogenase. Enzyme, substrate and the product were incubated with different concentrations of urea for 2.5 min at 24°C. The reaction was started by adding NADP+ and enzyme activity was measured.
Result: Even at highly denaturing urea concentration, Unisurrection S-61 at 1% shows an outstanding capacity for protecting the enzyme.

Restoring the activity of denatured enzymes (in vitro tests)
Protocol: Unisurrection S-61 was tested for its ability to reactivate enzymes after urea (a chaotropic substance) denaturation. Enzyme (isocitrate dehydrogenase) and substrate were incubated with different concentrations of urea for 5 min at 24°C. Then the product at 1 or 5%, or water were added. After 45min, the reaction started by adding NADP+ and enzyme activity was measured.
Result: Unisurrection S-61 shows a restructuring role after enzymes denaturation, which restores their activity, bringing them back to life.

Stimulation of skin cells growth (in vitro tests)
Protocol: Unisurrection S-61 was tested for its ability to stimulate skin cell growth. HaCaT keratinocytes were cultivated in a DMEM medium with 10% serum for 12h. The product was then added for 72h. DNA synthesis rate was evaluated by means of the BrdU test.
Result: Unisurrection S-61 at 50ppm increases cells’ division and growth by +37%, compared to control.

Revitalization of mitochondrial activity (in vitro tests)
Protocol: Unisurrection S-61 was tested for its ability to revitalize cells metabolism. HaCaT keratinocytes were cultivated in a DMEM medium with 10% serum for 12h. The product was then added for 72h. Mitochondrial activity was evaluated by MTT test (that measures the activity of a mitochondrial enzyme).
Result: Unisurrection S-61 at 50ppm significantly increases the mitochondrial activity: +90%, compared to control.

Enhancing skin cell viability (in vitro tests)
Protocol: Unisurrection S-61 was tested for its ability to protect the life of skin cells. HaCaT keratinocytes were cultivated in a DMEM medium with 10% serum for 12h. The product was then added for 72h. Vitality was evaluated by means of the LDH test (that measures the lactate dehydrogenase activity within the cell culture medium, in case of cell damage).
Result: Unisurrection S-61 increases keratinocytes viability by 50%, by protecting it from damages.

Improvement of skin moisturization (Clinical efficacy)
Protocol: A placebo and creams containing either 3 or 5% Unisurrection S-61 were tested in a clinical trial on 5 volunteers to evaluate their ability to improve skin moisturization. The creams were applied twice a day on specific area on the forearms, for 2 weeks. Skin moisture was measured with Corneometer CM825/MPA 8.
Result: Unisurrection S-61 at 5% increases skin moisturization (vs placebo) by 35% after only one week.
