How do we say

the Rosary?

The Apostles' Creed

The Apostles' Creed

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,     creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.    He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.    He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.    He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.    He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.    He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,    the holy catholic Church,    the communion of saints,    the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,    and the life everlasting.

Amen.

The Rosary begins with the Joyful Mysteries, which are

happy stories.

The AnnunciationThe Joyful Mysteries begin with the Angel Gabriel saying to Mary that she is going to be the mother

of Jesus.

Ave Maria

The angel's greeting to Mary, which is traditionally translated as "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee," is the opening of the Ave Maria, and a part of the Rosary prayers.

The VisitationMary visits her cousin Elizabeth to tell her how happy she is that she is going to have a baby.

The NativityThe birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, everybody knows

that story.

The PresentationThe Fourth Joyful Mystery tells us that Mary and Joseph brought their little baby to the Temple, to

offer him to God.

The Finding in the TempleThe Fifth Joyful Mystery is about something that

happened to Jesus when he was a little boy. He got lost on a trip he took with his parents to

Jerusalem. But they found him and were happy to bring him home.

The Luminous Mysteries

Jesus is baptised in the River Jordan.

The Miracle at Cana

Jesus proclaims the Kingdom of God

The Transfiguration

Jesus gives us the Eucharist

The Glorious Mysteries

The Glorious Mysteries tell us what happened after Jesus died.

The Resurrection

The Ascension

We watch Jesus going up into heaven to return as a hero to his true home. Before he left, he promised his friends that he would prepare a place for them there.

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

Jesus sends his Holy Spirit, to help us in this life and lead us to him in Heaven.

The Assumption of Mary into Heaven

Jesus loved his mother so much that he brought her to heaven immediately after she died. We say that Mary was assumed - brought up - to heaven so that she could be with her Son.

The Crowning of Mary as Queen of Heaven

The Sorrowful Mysteries

They tell what happened to Jesus when some people decided to put him to death on a Cross.

The Agony in the Garden

The First Sorrowful Mystery brings us to the Garden of Gethsemane in Jerusalem. There, Jesus was afraid and prayed for God's help, because he knew what was going to happen to him.

The Scourging at the Pillar

The Second Sorrowful Mystery takes us to the place where the soldiers beat him with whips.

The Crowning with Thorns

After beating him, the soldiers put a crown of thorns on his head and made fun of him.

Jesus carries His Cross

Jesus then was made to carry a heavy cross on his back to Calvary.

Finally, Jesus dies on the Cross.
