The students inquired into their sixth Unit –How we organize ourselves. Central idea- In a workplace people share responsibility towards a common purpose.

Inquiry Into-

• Purpose of a workplace

• Interconnectedness of people in a workplace

• Importance of shared vision or common purpose

Key Concepts- Function, Causation, Change Related Concepts– Cooperation, Employment

Students were involved in- Brainstorming on ‘Systems’ and how every workplace works under these

systems. Understanding roles of different people in a hospital, school and its effect on the

system. Introduction to Homophones-example-Identifying the correct homophone in the

given poem. o Finding meanings from the dictionary and framing sentences to understand the

appropriate usage of these words in sentences. o Group activity- Framing sentences and challenging other group members to

identify the correct homophone . Literacy week - Story writing -Mixing two fairy tales and making a new story

with a different ending. Spelling challenge of the inquiry words. Understanding the conversion of grams and kilograms, metres and centimetres. Working with the above concepts to solve different mathematical equations.

Home Task- • Practice sheets on metres and centimetres.

Spelling Bee

• There will be a spelling challenge on Friday- 19th April 2013 • Words for the week are-

system, responsibility, weight, metres, centimetres, kilogram, measurement, circuit, restaurant, hospital

Suggested activity-

Encourage your child to explore more about any one of the authors, (Charles Dickens, J.K Rowling, Ruskin Bond, Dr.

Suess, Enid Blyton) visited during the Literacy week, and the books written by them.
