The doors called “The Gates of Hell”Paid to design a pair of

doors for a new art museum

Theme was based a book called “The Divine Comedy” written in 1300’s by the poet Dante

Religiously focused book about a man’s journey from hell to heaven“comedy” at that time

meant a story with a happy ending.

“The Thinker” was meant to depict the poet Dante contemplating the story that he created and the images of suffering around him.

Famous!Took several

pieces off of the unfinished door and exhibited them separately

Made many copies of “The Thinker” in several sizes
