Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)

ASEAN was established to unify the southeast Asian region

and includes 10 countries:

Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar,

the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Established to unify the region under what was called the

‘ASEAN Way’ based on the ideals of non-interference,

informality, minimal institutionalisation, consultation and

consensus, non-use of force and non-confrontation.

The fist milestone has being taken by establishing the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).

The AEC aims to create one of the largest single market economies in the world.

4 Pillars of the AEC:

with a combined GDP of £1.8

trillion in 2013

• Needs to spend £46bn a year

over next decade on

infrastructure

• Key sectors of opportunity

include infrastructure,

healthcare, education, and

energy

ASEAN Now and in the Future …

ASEAN 2030

world by 2030

• 200+ million members of

middle class by 2030

• Naylor Industries:Naylor has exported to 65 countries globally but some of its greatest success has

been in Southeast Asia. The company’s products are now well-established in

Singapore and Brunei and recent years have seen Naylor widening its foothold across

one of the world’s fastest-growing regions, with other countries such as Malaysia, the

Philippines, and Indonesia showing good early promise.
