Freshman ECCAPP at a different time than standard ECCAPP, when The Write Place is open

Modeled after the Think Tank Writing Center at U of A
The Write Place is a group of students who provide one-on-one, peer-to-peer mentoring on writing assignments for anyone seeking feedback to create better writers, not just better writing.
Student client reads his or her own paper aloud to the mentor
Mentor asks the client questions and makes helpful suggestions to develop more concrete ideas and solid organization
Mentors and clients work together to improve ideas and organization
Emphasis on making better writers by not focusing on small grammatical errors within the paper
Recruited by English teachers to be mentors
Selected on the basis of successful application and interview process
Rigorously trained and coached on the mentoring process as well as various writing genres
5-paragraph essays Resumes Poetry Personal Statements Research Papers Persuasive Essays Literary Analyses
Jobs Campus Involvement Bilingual Mentors Continue throughout his or her high
school years
Our mentors are diverse outside of The Write Place: Student Council, Marching Band, Drum Line,
Mariachi, Orchestra, Drama and Theatre Tech, ROTC, AP and Dual Enrollment College Classes, Creative Writing, CTE courses such as Beauty School, College Access Ambassadors, as well as hobbies other than writing
