The following pre-requisites must be met before you can use this service:
• Angus Council Corporate Network Credentials (username and password)
• Authorisation from your Service Management to work from home
• A Service Request logged on the IT Service Desk to allow IT to carry out the technical work necessary to allow
access to your Citrix Hosted Corporate Applications on the Angus Council Network.
NB:
• Without the above being fulfilled it will not be possible to access your Citrix Hosted Corporate
Applications from a home PC.
• It will not be possible to use both the Vasco and Google Authenticator together.
Requirements
The following guide is for use with a personal Home Computer or Laptop. It will allow access to the Angus Council
Network and Schools Corporate Applications through an Internet Browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer
and Microsoft Edge.
You will require to have two devices:
• A personal Home Computer or Laptop to use for accessing the Corporate Network
• An iPhone/iPad or an Android Smart phone/Tablet to install Google Authenticator onto.
The smart phone will be used as a authentication token, similar to the Vasco Token, but it will be a software token
on your smart device and not a hardware physical token (Vasco).
Step 1 Install Google Authenticator onto your Smart Phone or Tablet
Logging in remotely using Google Authenticator.
Download and install Google Authenticator to the phone you want to use. This can be found in your App Store or
Play Store by searching for Google Authenticator and selecting install or by opening an Internet Browser and
searching for Google Authenticator and selecting the App Store install option in your search results. Once installed
you can leave and ignore any promtps on the App for now as it will be required in later steps.
Step 2 On your Home Desktop PC or Laptop
Open your Internet Browser and type, or click the link, https://remote2.angus.gov.uk/manageotp into the navigation
bar/address bar.
Type in your Corporate username and password into the boxes and click Submit. Note: Your user name does not
need @angus.gov.uk. This is yourusername not yourusername@angus.gov.uk
To add a new device click + Add Device
Type in a name for the device. This is a name for your phone or tablet. E.g. Joe’s iPhone
Then click Go. It is worth noting at this point a pop up box will appear with a QR Code.
Step 3. Set up Google Authenticator and synchronise with your Home PC/Laptop
On your mobile phone launch Google Authenticator App.
Select Begin Setup Select Scan barcode
Google Authenticator will open your phone camera, when prompted allow camera access, inside the Google Authenticator App and you will be presented a red or green box as below and from here you can point the camera, through the App, at the QR code on the Home PC or Laptop screen. You must ensure that the QR code is inside the red or green box.
Your passcode and account should appear
NB You may be prompted to give permission for the app to use the camera.
On your Home PC or Laptop: Once added the account has been added click Done on PC screen
To test, select Test
On your Home PC or Laptop enter the code that is displayed on the Google Authenticator App screen on your Smart
Phone or Tablet and click Go on the PC screen
You should get a Successfully verified message
Return to your Home PC or Laptop and to get logged in to the Angus Council Network via Citrix enter the following
address in your Internet Browser https://remote2.angus.gov.uk
Enter your Corporate username, password and the code that appears on Google Authenticator app and click Submit
PLEASE NOTE the code on the Google Authenticator app is only valid for 30 seconds before it changes.
On an iPhone the code will begin to flash red when the time allotted to use the code is running out.
If you get a Welcome to Citrix Receiver page, follow the on-screen instructions to Detect Receiver. You will get a
prompt to Launch Citrix Launcher and this load your Windows 10 Virtual PC. You can also navigate to the Corporate
storefront screen where you can launch your Citrix Server 2016 Desktop or Apps and follow and accept the onscreen
prompts to get to your Virtual Desktop.
For more help and information you can enhance your Citrix Experience you can download and install the Citrix
Workspace Receiver at the following location https://www.angus.gov.uk/citrix
You can add or remove devices by going back to https://remote2.angus.gov.uk/manageotp
IMPORTANT: in order to add and remove device you must have closed your browser and re-opened it get back to the
Manage page.
Enter with your Corporate username and password and click Submit
To remove a device, click on Delete next to the device
You will be asked to confirm if you wish to delete the device
You should get a Successfully deleted message.
You can then add a new device if required.
To remove an account from the Google Authenticator on an iPhone
Tap the pencil icon in the top right corner. Tap on the account you wish to delete
A tick on a red circle should appear next to it, then tap on Delete at the bottom of the screen.
You will be prompted to confirm you wish to delete the account. Tap on Remove Account.
