Welcome to our Parish
Divine Mercy Sunday– April 8th The first Sunday after Easter has been designated by the Church as Divine Mercy Sunday—but this
celebration is not about a private revelation that took place in Poland, rather Jesus’ words to St. Faustina
about His merciful heart supports what the Church has always professed and which she seeks to remind
the world of once again; namely God’s goodness and love for sinners. The Gospel for this Sunday is the
encounter of St. Thomas with the Risen Christ. He is incredulous that the master whom he loved and
whose bloody death he witnessed could possibly be risen. However, Jesus reveals Himself to Thomas,
just as He reveals Himself to each of us and assures Thomas not only that He is alive, but that He is
with him in his struggles. Jesus does the same for us; He comes to us in our doubts, in our fears, and in
our brokenness. We, like St. Thomas can allow Jesus to heal us by proclaiming our trust in the Risen
Savior. Jesus praises those who have not seen and still believe.
Sunday, April 8th at 3:00 pm
There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
and Benediction.
Veneration of St. Faustina Relic.
We will pray the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
Speaker will be Father John Trigilio.
Jesus I trust in you!

Liturgy & Prayer
First Reading: Acts 4:32-35
This passage describes the actions of the first
community of Christians. They were of “one
heart and one mind.” They had no rich or poor among them, for they shared all necessary
items with one another.
Second Reading: I John 5:1-6 John explains that we become God’s children by
believing in Jesus. When we love God and con-
cern ourselves only with pleasing God, our faith
is strong enough to conquer the evil in our
world.
Gospel: John 20:19-31
Jesus appeared to the disciples despite locked
doors, breathed on them so that they could
receive the Holy Spirit, and gave them the pow-
er to forgive sins in his name. Thomas, who was not present, refused to believe without
seeing Jesus for himself. Jesus appeared again
when Thomas was present, and told him, “Blest
are they who have not seen and have be-
lieved.”
Eucharistic Adoration: Q & A “Come to Me all you who are weary…” Matthew 11:28
What is That Story About St. John Vianney and the Farmer Who
Comes to Adore Jesus in the Tabernacle? St. John Vianney was a parish priest in France who had great reverence for the Blessed Sacrament. He always delighted in discovering how many of his parishioners did as well. There was one farmer who would never pass the church without stopping inside. His tools would be left at the front door. He would enter the church and kneel directly before the tabernacle. Sometimes he would be there for a few minutes. Often he would be there for several hours. St. John Vianney asked him once what prayers he was praying when he made these visits. The man told him, “I say nothing to Him. I look at him and He looks at me.”
“You are my strength when I am weak. You are the treasure that I seek. You are
my all in all. Seeking You as a precious jewel. Lord, to give up I'd be a fool. You
are my all in all.” ~Dennis Jernigan

World Day of Prayer to Vocations Good Shepherd Sunday– April 22nd
We will be having a Diocesan Seminarian, Jose Lim visit our parish on April 22nd to celebrate World Day of Prayer to Vocations.
Hello! My name is Jose Lim and I am a seminarian for the Diocese of Metuchen, currently in my first year of Pre-Theology studies at Immaculate Conception School of Theology. Growing up in Paramus, New Jersey, my family always made sure I attended church at received my Sacraments and at one point in my childhood, I even wanted to become a priest! As the years went on, however, I fell away from my Catholic faith and didn't rediscover it until college. I was studying to be a nurse at Rutgers University when I was introduced to the Catholic Center there! Never be-fore had I met other young people who were serious about living out their faith and following Jesus. I started to realize that a life centered on God was a great adven-ture! Soon I began going to daily mass, reading scripture, spending time praying, and I eventually began to discern my vocation! After graduation, I spent a year serving as a college campus minister in Florida before coming back to New Jersey to work as a nurse with a specialization in cardiology and hospice. As much as I loved nursing, the idea of becoming a priest kept coming up in prayer, so I entered seminary in the fall of 2017! Please keep my fellow diocesan brothers and myself in your prayers as we continue in our studies to become good and holy priests!

No one wants to be known as a gossip, yet who among us has never gossiped? It's tempting. It is so tempting in fact, that we can convince ourselves that we were not really gossiping.
Take the gossip test below to determine if you qualify as a gossip. If you answer yes to any of the 10 statements below, you have gossiped. Then read on for powerful reasons never to do it again.
1. As long as it's true, it's okay to repeat.
2. I needed to vent.
3. I told only one person.
4. I told people just to ask for prayers for his sorry soul.
5. I accidentally slipped so I was not intentionally gossiping.
6. I went a whole week without telling anyone, then had to tell just one person.
7. I told someone in confidence and made them promise never to repeat it.
8. I needed advice on how I should handle it.
9. If she is going to act that way, then she deserves it.
10. I'm praying for him now, so it's all good.
Unless there is a serious need to know, it's the sin of detraction to share something bad about another. For instance, if you have a friend about to do business with someone who has a long history of swindling people, that might be important information to share for the good of another. But telling a friend about an acquaintance's spouse having an affair, it's not your job to spread that.
People are social creatures so communication with one another is instinctive and having big news to share can be fun or being appalled about someone's behavior can incite us to vent. But when it's hurting another person's reputation, then we are guilty of sin.
Here are 7 good reasons never to gossip again:
1. To hurt someone through talking about them behind their back, you have to strike Jesus first. "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to
one of these brothers of mine, even the least of them, you did it to me." — Matthew 25:40
2. In order for you to gossip, you have to hold a negative memory and share it with another person. Negative thoughts in your brain causes release
of cortisol, the stress hormone, into your blood. This weakens your immune system and inhibits the actions of your white blood cells which in-
creases the chances for infection and even promotes weight gain — all from negative thinking you spread through gossiping.
3. What goes around comes around. In Matthew 7:12, Jesus told us to do unto others as we would have them do unto us. He also warned us: in
Luke 6:38 that, "The measure with which you measure will be measured back to you."
4. Gossiping gives you a bad reputation. Have you ever heard someone described as a big gossip? That realization makes them unattractive to
other as untrustworthy and mean-spirited. Consider the opposite: a trustworthy person who speaks kindly of others. Choose the image you want.
5. What you say about others is more of an indication of who you are than who they are. Some people speak kindly and compliment others while
others seem never to be at a loss for a criticism of others. What you say about others is a reflection of who you are.
6. Risk of Embarrassment. Once you've said something, you cannot 100 percent trust that it will not be repeated and get back to the person that
you were gossiping about. If you would not say something in front of them, then don't say it behind their backs.
7. It's a sin. It comes under the Fifth Commandment, "Thou Shalt Not Kill," because it kills the reputation of another.
The choice is ours. We can criticize or spread scandal about others and have our moment of venting or attention, or we can refrain for the sake of God, neighbor and our own souls.
To go one step further, rather than gossiping about a person, we can pray for them. Our hearts will grow in love and kindness and our souls will grow in holiness. Compare that with ruining our reputation, sinning and hurting others. It should be no contest.

Evangelization
Saint of the Week
How often do we unconsciously associate “prodigal”
with something negative? But is it always? What is
the right understanding of the word? Prodigal comes
from the Latin prodigere, prodigus, meaning to
“squander or lavish”. Used in a negative sense it
means to squander or waste resources, or to be “rashly
and recklessly extravagant”.
The first meaning, “to squander” certainly fits the son
in the Biblical story. However the author contends
that the real main character of the story is the
“prodigal father”. The father was “rashly and
recklessly extravagant” with his love and mercy that
he lavished upon his returning son.
Despite the son squandering all his money, his
inheritance and eventually what he thought was his
very sonship; the prodigal father lavished his love and
acceptance upon him. So it is with our heavenly
Father as well! How often have we felt that we have
squandered His love, mercy or grace? Perhaps we
came to a point where we felt that we no longer
deserved to be called His Child, and that we had even
squandered that away as well. That is the great lie!!
God never disowns His children. Even when we
willfully disobey or hurt Him, He doesn’t give us less
love, He gives us more! Our Father is always looking,
seeking, waiting and longing for us to return “home”
to Him. We are His family, His Children.
There is so much more in this beautiful chapter to
discover. However what should we take away from it?
Hopefully a fuller understanding of the very mystery
of God’s mercy towards us. He is always seeking to
restore that which was lost, to restore us to His image
and likeness, to restore us as children, to bring us back
to Him.
He wants to bring us home!!

Liturgia de la Palabra
Primera Lectura: Hechos 4:32-35
Este pasaje describe las acciones de la primera comunidad de cristianos. Eran “del mismo pensar y sentir”. No había
