Jeff Behling was chosen by his peers as theBloomfield Firefighter of the Year for 2010. Jeffentered the department in January of 2010 andsince has shown his zeal for the departmentand community. Jeff has completed hisFirefighter I and is an EMT-B. CongratulationsJeff.... this award is most deserved.

Of course the Auxiliary was there in
force leading up to the event and
spending the greater part of their
Saturday morning at the Parish Hall
decorating. Those involved
included: Kim Moore, Katie Ivy,
Robbyn Rader, Dona Lynch,
Michelle Olbert, Kim Duncan and
Desiraie Bounds
Thanks as well to Capt. Mohler, Bo
Rice, Travis Olbert, Sean Eckstein,
Ryan Varnell and Jeff Behling for
all they did preparing for the
banquet. Thank you to all that stayed
and helped clean up after the
banquet.

The “Sparky” fire prevention
dog outfit was picked up
through a Assistance to
Firefighter grant. The costume
will be used in the schools and
other events preaching fire
safety.

Relay For Life Event

Relay for Life will again be held in

Duck Race
The fire
department has been
involved in this for a number
of years and we could use
some help putting it
together. This will be held on
May 14 around 1300 hrs.

Operations
These classes
resume on
Tuesday, March
15 at 1900 hrs.
WILDLAND FIREFIGHTING
Tentative dates for Pack Test
April 9 - 0800 hrs.
April 16 - 0800 hrs.
April 21 - 1900 hrs.
April 28 - 1900 hrs.
Red Cards - To be Red Carded and thus eligible to be deployed
on Wildland fires you must have a S-130 and S-190 certification
and complete the Pack
Test. The pack test
consist of walking 3
miles within 45 minutes
while carrying a 45 lb.
pack. Easy you say...
yeah the first mile
is......
Also., we need Engine
Bosses to operate
apparatus at wildland fires. To qualify as an Engine Boss you must
have the aforementioned as well as S-131, S-133, S-290, S-230 and
S-231. This allows you to drive/operate apparatus on a State or
Federal fire.
