Three weeks in India, Cambodia and Laos, we became one with the places where ancient crafts are still being made as they were centuries ago. Stone carving and the inlay technique Pietra Dura, hand-woven textiles, and elaborate miniature paintings were just a few of the crafts we explored.

1

Seeing the human condition at its most vibrant and its most desperate in a brief, 30-minute walk was at once uplifting and exhausting.

The women in their bright clothes and heavy gold jewelry carrying water vessels on their heads seemed an expected, almost stereotypical, image. But the beauty still inspires.

The shifting gleam of lapis lazuli, malachite, quartzite and tiger’s eye. The dusky crackle of Japanese raku pottery. The weathered texture of well-loved, vintage furniture. The patina of ancient Persian rugs.

Layer upon layer of inspiration reveals new depths of rich pattern and sensuous expression to draw you in.

Uncover the ultimate luxury with our most opulent collection to date — Layered Luxe, a collaboration with David Rockwell. And create an environment that is at once immersive and engaging.

To design is to dare. To think big. To be bold. Be Bold mixes pattern, color and texture to create a bravely authentic sense of place.

Architectural scaffolding, geometric grids, linear stripes — each with a mind of their own.

And each with a singularly stylish statement that just so happens to end in an exclamation point.

Hexagon reflects the cultural shift toward more collaborative environments — influencing the ways we work, walk, communicate and create.

This new shape of carpet tile design will change the way you move through a space. It will veer you off the beaten path and encourage collaborative chemistry.

Build a social hive. Form new communities. And create a sense of human attachment and belonging.

The Hotel Tabaco, located in a 19th century cigarette factory in Lódz, Poland, features luxurious yet cozy interiors juxtaposed with the building’s stark, industrial character.

The interior design is influenced by ‘50s and ‘60s Polish design, an era when the factory underwent its most dynamic development. This style is reflected in the furnishings and materials used.

The designers chose carpet in a bold palette of blue, turquoise and purple that adds warmth and depth to the exposed brick and concrete walls and minimalist furniture.

A partnership with MindClick Global and Courtyard by Marriott showed that sustainable practices markedly increase guest satisfaction.

MindClick, which measures and provides sustainable performance market data to Fortune 1000 companies, launched its RestBetter program earlier this year at the hotel.

RestBetter gauges hotel selection and guest satisfaction to the hotel’s green practices.

Shaw Hospitality Group was among the suppliers selected by Marriott and verified through MindClick Global’s Sustainability Index. In response to the program, scores for likelihood to book again, as well as to refer friends, are averaging 20 points higher, reports MindClick Global.

We believe that collaborative design takes us to greater heights. It allows us to address complex problems and create far-reaching results.

The Layered Luxe collection was just the start of an ongoing relationship with David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group. In addition to product collaboration with Layered Luxe and Natural Curiosities, Shaw Hospitality Group helped David Rockwell achieve his vision for the new TED Conference pop-up theater in Vancouver, Canada.

In keeping with LEED Platinum certification, the carpet is cradle-to-cradle certified. Manufactured with Eco Solution Q nylon, it contains 45% recycled content.

When Motel 6 needed a hard-surface flooring alternative to carpet that was competitively priced, durable and easy to install and maintain, they knew just where to turn.

Shaw Hospitality Group met their needs and then some, providing more than 4.5 million square feet of custom vinyl plank in 2013, equivalent to 16 square blocks in Dallas.

In fact, the relationship has proven to be successful: more than 200 Motel 6 properties are currently using the custom vinyl plank product.

“With projects growing in complexity and timelines becoming tighter, we want the client experience to be easy. We surround our customers with support and expertise to create a consistent ‘peace of mind’ experience,” Tracy Corbin, Director, Customer Service Soft Surfaces.

Both sophisticated and witty, the design of the W Dallas features the iconic silhouette of the “Texas mudflap cowgirl” as a design motif throughout.

The custom-designed Shaw carpet includes a giant runner resembling a doily-like pattern in metallic grays and blacks with shocking Dallas Cowboys blue at the fringes. The guest rooms carpet features interlocking mudflap girls in varying shades of gray with a metallic black medallion in the center highlighting the big hair, boots and cowgirl hat.
