Thursday 26 May 2016 Musica Viva
This week Musica Viva visited BPS, presenting a range
of engaging experiences based on Indonesian music
and instruments. This is linked to classroom activities
to make the teaching of music real and engaging for
students K-6.
Basketball court official opening
The refurbishment of our school basketball court in
2014-2015 was strongly supported by our school P&C
and the Department of Education along with a number
of community sponsors. To acknowledge these
contributors we will be holding an official opening of our
basketball court at 2.40pm next Thursday 2nd June. All
are invited to attend to share this event.
Homework Club and Bring your Child Sessions
Homework club runs each Wednesday afternoon from
3.30-4pm for students and parents K-6. We are also
holding a series of “bring your child” learning sessions
for parents each second Wednesday from 9.15am.
This is for students and parents K-6—please see our
app and website for details.

Uniform Exchange/Donations
We hold a large number of uniform items for commu-
nity redistribution, typically we ask for a gold coin do-
nation. The supply of uniforms comes primarily from
community donations as well as a number of found
items that can not be reunited with an owner. We
supplement this uniform supply with items from local
suppliers.
If any students require uniform items any of our staff
members can be approached to provide this support.
We would welcome a gold coin donation, or a swap
of one item for another. Our priority is ensuring that
all students have a correct uniform that is appropriate
for the weather conditions.
School Excursions/events
Each year a number of excursions and visiting per-
formers are booked to enhance the curriculum offer-
ing here at school. This is an opportunity to provide
wider experiences and to make the learning in the
classroom more meaningful and engaging.
Most of the events are booked in advance, often over
a year ahead of schedule with booking fees etc. ap-
plicable. We are experiencing some difficulty in man-
aging these events due to notes and payments com-
ing in late resulting in BPS incurring cancellation fees
etc.
We are committed to including all students in these
events and should financial consideration limit stu-
dents’ ability to participate we are happy to discuss
support options. I do ask for community support in
returning notes and monies in a timely fashion to al-
low our planning to progress and ensure the continue
viability of these experiences.

School Banking News
Welcome to term 2. where the students bank 3 times be-
tween week 6 & 9 and they will go into the draw to win a
prize. This will assist with encouraging students to bank, as-
sist their deposit numbers towards the major competition and
also means that someone at our school will win a prize. You
would be aware of the current competition running at the
moment where students who deposit 15 times through
school banking, will automatically be put into the draw to win
a family trip to Australia Zoo. The prizes for banking blitz is a
dollarmites prize pack. The lucky winner will be presented
the prize and the certificate at assembly after week 9. The
Australia Zoo prize is valued over $10,000 and the winner of
the trip will be printed in the Australian paper at the end of
