How does your current Time Management situation make
you feel?
Time Sucks - Activity
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
How much do you really want to change your situation and
improve your time management on a scale of 1-10?
10 being the highest?
Time Sucks - Action
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Find - 1 things that you’re going to commit to putting into
action solidly for about a month to improve your Time
Management.
To Do Lists
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Write a List of absolutely everything you have to do
Cross off all the things that don’t actually have to be done
Underline what you can delegate
Highlight what MUST be done today
Write things on the bottom that you hadn’t planned to do
Be realistic
Delegation
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Think of it as short term pain long term gain
It’s a great way of developing someone
Make sure you empower them
#1 – Being Disorganised
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
If you spend your time looking for things…time for a clear
out
Organise your PC; your inbox and your desk
Create a system and stick to it
#2 – Coffee and Smoke Breaks
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
If you’re having too many…have a re-think
Stick to one in the morning, lunch and one in the afternoon
#3 – Social Media
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Keep a tally of how often you’re on social media
How long on average are you wasting?
If this is too long…time to cut down
#4 – Procrastination
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Identify what time of day you procrastinate most and avoid doing big tasks then
Split bigger jobs into manageable chunks so they don’t feel so daunting
Allow yourself a break – if you really don’t feel like doing it. Find out why?
Watching TV; updating your social networking and checking your emails is OK providing it’s all part of the plan and it doesn’t become the norm and taking over your life. Remember you are in control of your time.
#5 – E-Mails
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Allocate time to check your emails – not first thing
Turn off your email alert
Touch each email once
#8 – Meetings
www.barbaranixon.co.uk
Ask yourself:
What’s the purpose?
What contribution are you expected to make
Can someone else go on your behalf?
