Fueling Parent Excellence Conference
There are many reasons why Holly Academy is the top academic
performer in the area. One of these reasons is our high level of
parent support and involvement! The best way you can support
your child in his/her academics is to attend our Fifth Annual Fueling
Parent Excellence Conference on September 19, 2016. This year,
PTO is providing a free dinner and our staff will be running
activities to keep your children busy while you learn what is in store
for the school year.
Register TODAY at: http://www.eventbrite.com/o/parent-

**PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR CELL PHONE
DURING DROP OFF AND DISMISSAL**
Attention Parents - Morning Drop-Off
Our residential neighbors have a problem in the morning
when they are attempting to leave for work. Please
understand that some of the morning traffic on Academy
Road is non-school related vehicles, and they are having
difficulty leaving the area.
A major problem location is where vehicles are on Academy
Road attempting to turn either left or right onto Fish Lake
Road. We are asking our parents to please be courteous of
all vehicles heading away from the area, as well as those
coming into the area.
Also, drop-off should not occur prior to 7:40am unless your
child attends latch-key. Please refrain from dropping off
prior to the outside doors opening at 7:40am.
Dismissal Process
Your child’s safety is of utmost importance to our staff.
Please refrain from having parent/teacher conferences
during the dismissal process. Even the smallest question to
a teacher takes his/her attention off the safety of the
children. Teachers are not permitted to engage in these
conversations until the dismissal process is completed.
Thank you for assisting us in keeping our children safe.
The middle schoolers will dismiss from the auditorium. If
you would like to pick your child up from the middle school
building, please make sure you sign them out at the office
before 3:05p.m.
Remember to turn in your summer work!
Students should turn in proof of any summer learning
program to the office with their name and homeroom
teacher on it NO LATER than Friday, September
16th.
Any student that turns in proof of completing a
summer learning program will earn a special reward
and recognition on our summer learning bulletin
board.

Academy’s pest management program. Parents and legal guardians of children
enrolled in the district have the right to request prior notification of pesticide
applications to the buildings or grounds. In order to be notified prior to the
application of pesticides, the parent or legal guardian must send a letter to Ken

Please understand that emergencies do arise and that pesticides may be applied
without prior notice to parents or legal guardians. Parents or legal guardians that
have requested prior notification, however, will be notified after pesticide

Holly Academy has conducted the following asbestos-related activities since the
beginning of the school year.

available for public review. The next 3-year reinspection is due in December
2016.
Training: Newly hired custodial personnel were provided asbestos awareness
training, as required by the AHERA regulation. Documentation is located in
the asbestos management plan.
Holly Academy will be conducting the following asbestos related activities over the
next twelve months:
Six Month Periodic Surveillances: The next periodic surveillance is scheduled
for February 2017.

How to Pack a Zero Waste Lunch
● A Zero Waste Lunch is simply a lunch that produces no trash. ● To pack one is so easy, simply employ reusable containers instead of disposable
packaging.
Our school produces over 150 lbs. of trash from lunch every day. Please help us reduce this amount in our efforts to go green. We've also found that buying in bulk instead of singleserve containers can save over $100 per year in grocery costs per student.
