Headmaster’s Corner
This week saw Year 8 have their termly Monitors’ Meeting. As always, Mrs Duncan prepared an outstanding meal as the children continue to carefully select their menu for next term’s end of exam week party on Saturday 6th June which they have decided to call ‘A Civilised Evening with Year 8!’. With the limo, the Zorb Balls, the disco and the fireworks now arranged, the only thing left for them to decide upon is the choice of cocktails and the evening’s colour scheme (apart from settling down to some revision of course!).
As we reach the half-way point in our school year, I congratulate the children upon their many successes to date. Last week’s Tracker highlighted academic successes and the preparations for Bugsy Malone and the forthcoming Eisteddfod will
allow the children to shine once more on the stage. Our teams are producing some commendable performances and the swimming team excel with times reached that place our whole squad in the country’s top 30. Rachel Shutt’s time would have placed her fifth in the country last year and Abigail Blackwell’s time would have placed her sixth.
With so much more to come this year I hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable half term break but sadly this Tracker sees us saying goodbye to Mrs Beveridge who retires today after 15 years of loyal service to the school. We thank her for all that she has done for each and every member of the school including the pupils, staff, OT’s, Governors and Friends. She will be missed by us all but whilst we are back at school next half term I know she will be planning an amazing visit to Antarctica with her husband. Louisa, please keep in contact!
Thank You
Alex Gooch would like to thank everybody who bought a postcard or calendar from him at the Christmas Fayre. He received a certificate for his donation this week from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. The £153 raised has been used to help fund an anti poaching team. Because of your generosity, they were able to keep elephants on their reserve in Kenya safe for three more days. Thank you.
FOTM
The next event in the FOTM social calendar is a Wine Tasting Evening, which will be held on the 21st March at 7.00 pm in the school hall. The event will be run by Majestic Wine and will be a fun way to learn more about wine whilst helping raise money for the school. Places at the event can be requested using the form provided at the end of the Tracker or via FOTM Class Reps.
