All chilled water FCUs are using W2 control algorithm (W2 PCB). Hardware wise there are three types of pcb’s:
FWT 2 pipe - version
FWF 2 pipe, FWC 2pipe – version (are identical)
FWC 4 pipe - version
Despite the software used is the same on all fancoil types, the hardware of the pcb’s is unique for the three types of fancoils ,according the model some functions of the “W2” algorithm will be available or not .

(a) Auto mode i.e. automatic selection of cool or heating mode based on the difference of the T setpoint and T room, is only possible with 4-pipe system and pcb configured as model 3, this means one coil is connected to a cold water system and the second coil to a hot water system.
(b) On the pcb’s of the 4-pipe fancoil cassettes the model “selection” of the pcb can be choosen between model 3 and 4 by means of a jumper. On the two pipe versions the pcb comes standard as a model 1 and no selection is to be made.
(c) The delay timer up to 15 hrs is only in combination with the wired controller SRC. On units with WRC or MERCA the internal
clock of the controller is used for timer functionality

PCB Model selection On the pcb’s of the four pipe versions (FWC 02~06) some model selection is possible in order to
activate some features of the pcb. All two pipe versions pcb’s come standard as model 1, and should not be changed! Model 2 is not valid for water fancoils.
Model selection is done via jumpers on the pcb, for fwt no selection jumpers are present. The fwf and fwc two pipe versions are factory wise configures as model 1, don’t change!Model 1 makes heating and cooling possible, no auto mode. Model 2 is not used for Daikin units

PCB Model selection - differences
– Model 3, with auto mode, this 4 pipe application requires one coil connected to cold water second coil should be connected to warm water. System will automatically activate the coils in order to achieve correct room temperature independant from selected working mode.
– Model 3 without auto mode, this is in fact standard 4 pipe functioning of the fcu, meaning one coil used for cooling and one coil for heating. Coil is selected depending on selection of heating or cooling by the user.
– Model 4, in this mode one coil is considered cool/heat (thus must me connected to heatpump system. Second coil is a booster coil which is activated when water from first coil is not hot enough. This is a not so common application

PCB Model selection 4 pipesdifferences between model 3 and model 4
For model 4 it’s important that primary coil Tc is connected to “heatpump” system in other words a system that can supply hot or cold water depending season. Second coil is booster coil and only used under certain conditions. Model 3 has always one cool coil and one heating coil.

Jumper open = activate model !
Exampl.= model 3 , put jumper on M4!
From factory fwc 4 pipes are standard configured as model 4!
The model 3 selection on FWC 4 pipes basically activates the socalled Auto mode,This needs the pressence of hot and cold water at the same time in the coils of the fcu .If wired controller is used, also jumper configuration in the wired controller needed.

Auto Mode – model 3 only (FWC – 4 pipe) one coil is connected to cold water one coil to hot water connected. Note: in case the wired controller Merca is used, it needs to be configured for “Auto mode”
During Auto heat mode, when room temperature rises and equals to the cool switch point, system will automatically switch to Auto cool mode. If room temperature falls down and reaches heat switch pointsystem will again change to Auto heat mode.

Load shedding – only FWC 4 pipe pcb not for FWF/FWT – FWC 2 pipe
This feature, when active will close the valve and stop the fan. The function is activated by closing a dry contact connected to the SHED terminal on the pcb. Actually the unit goes into stanby mode, control of the drainpump remains active. Note that the antrifreeze feature can override an active load shed function. This function allows “hardwired” enabling standby mode from remote eg by BMS system.
Dry contact SHED:
Open for 5 sec : deactivate load shedding
Close for 5 sec: activate load shedding
FWC
Note: on socalled dry contacts no exterrnal voltage should be apllied. The voltage (5V dc) is supplied by the pcb. Dry inputs are activated by simply closing a hardwired contact, eg from external relais controlled by an centralized control system.

Pipe Water Temp. Sensing
At startup of the fcu unit, water temperature in the coil(s) will be checked before going into so called thermostat control. The coil sensor Tc is used for this purpose .Tb refers to second coil which is considered as booster coil (model 4) or heating coil for (model 3) fcu.
Temperature test is performed during:
a) Power ON reset and unit is turned ON
or
b) Mode change
or
c) Unit recover from faults
The applied test procedure depends on presence of a valve and on the selected mode (COOL or HEAT)

After starting/power-up the unit, the water alve will be opened and fan will be forced to low speed during 2 minutes (allow coil to cool down, after opening of the valve) . After these 2 minutes, unit goes into a 2 minutes temperature check procedure, in case AUTO FAN was selected fan will now run with speed depending on the difference between T room and T setpoint.
If after these 2 minutes (sensing coil temperature) temperature is not suitable (Tc>Troom+3°) valve will be closed and fan will be run on low speed for 9 minutes. If fan prio jumper is open fan will stop completely.
When these 9 minutes are elapsed, unit will again perform first the two min force valve open / low fan mode and then the two minute sensing test unitil the coil temperature is cold enough. Note that no errors will be displayed in valve mode if temperature is not ok! As long the temp is not ok unit will stay in the 2+2 min On / 9 min OFF loop.
Remark: during first start-up depending of the mode (cool or heat) a cold or hot start will be considered by the pcb’s software. This means actual setpoint will be offset internally with +2°for heat mode and -2°for cooling. After 20 minutes these offsets are reset and set point becomes again equal to selected value on the controller

If after 2 min. force low fan, valve C_VLV will open, pcb will go into 2 minutes water temp. mode (sensing coil temperature Tc of first coil) if temperature is not suitable (Tc <Troom - 3) C_VLV valve will be closed and fan will run on low speed for 9 minutes. In case fan prio jumper is open fan will stop completely.
When these 9 minutes are elapsed, unit will again perform the two + two minute temp sensing test until the coil temperature is hot enough.
Note that after the Hot start time has been elapsed (20 min) the unit will (can) start to check second coil Tb (booster) in case water on first coil is still to cold. First a simular 2+2 min temp check will be performed on the booster coil.If booster temp is not ok, it will be forced off for 5 minutes.
If Tb > 28°C and Tb > Tr +5° boiler will be used. Booster will run only for 9 minutes, after this, system will again perform 2+2 min tempt test on coil one (Tc)!
This sequence will be repeated until water temp on coil Tc is hot enough, as this is the primary heating coil!
From moment the water in first coil (Tc) is hot enough thus Tc > Tr + 3,the booster coil will again be closed by the H_VLV valve.
Only circomstance where both coils could be active is when Tc is close to room temperature in this case both coils will be used for heating until temperature on Tc > Tr + 3C . In This case unit works in thermostat control mode and will follow temp control algorithm valid for thermostat control.

Booster operation - Remarks
– Booster coil Tb only for 9 min contineous in operation, when water temperature on Tc (primary coil for heat/cool is to low.
– Booster coil Tb can operate together with Tc only if water temperature on primary coil Tc is according following equations: in other words close to the room temperature.
Tr-2°C < Tc < Tr + 2°C
Tb > 28°and Tb > Ts +5°
– As soon water temperature on primary coil Tc rises above Tr+3°the booster will be shut off!

If after 2 min. force low fan, valve H-VLV open, pcb will go into 2 minutes water temp. mode (sensing coil temperature Tb of heaing coil) if temperature is not suitable (Tb < Troom -3) C_VLV valve will be closed and fan will be run on low speed for 9 minutes. In case fan prio jumper is open fan will stop completely.
When these 9 minutes are elapsed, unit will again perform the two + two minute temp sensing test until the coil Tb temperature is hot enough. No errors are displayed in case water is not suitable. In case Tb is close to room tempTr-2<Tb<Tr+2 unit will also go into thermostat control, this can create some uncomfortable situation!.
Remark: during first start-up depending of the mode (cool or heat) a cold or hot start will be considered by the pcb’s software. This means actual setpoint will be offset internally with +2°for heat mode and -2°for cooling. After 20 minutes these offsets are reseted and setpoint becomes again equal to selected value on the controller

After starting/power-up the unit, the water valve C_VLV will be opened and fan will be forced to low speed during 2 minutes (allow coil Tc to cool down, after opening of the valve) . After these 2 minutes, unit goes into a 2 minutes temperature check procedure, in case AUTO FAN was selected fan will now run with speed depending on the difference between T room and T setpoint.
If after these 2 minutes (sensing coil temperature) temperature is not suitable (Tc>Troom+3°) valve will be closed and fan will be stopped for 9 minutes in case fan prio jumper is open. Otherwise fan will run on low speed.
