(Indoor) Positioning Systems

● Global Positioning System (GPS)– does not work well indoors

● Wifi / Bluetooth-based– narrowband (a few 10s of MHz)

– ranging based on signal strength

● UWB (Ultra Wideband)– use of very short RF pulses ; bandwidth

larger than 500 MHz ; low power spectral density

– works well in multi-path environments
