Other Information
• The district prefers pre-wrapped birthday treats be shared in the classroom at 2:30.
• When you come to have lunch it will be only with your child.
• All GISD schools except one are Title 1 this year. We received federal money that was used for more technology (iPad minis, supplemental math materials, Love and Logic materials for parents, and teacher training)
Study Trips• No student may leave the
school for a field trip without returning a signed parent/guardian approval and release form
• New guideline this year- all chaperones must sign a form acknowledging their responsibilities and duties
• Chaperones have to be approved through Raptor, only overnight trips require a full volunteer application and Criminal History check
• There is a minimum of one-to-ten ratio of chaperones to students during all trips
• Overnight trips require a parent meeting
Other Information• Written documentation (note or email) is
required to excuse any absence. For any unexcused absence, each assignment will be reduced by 20 points.
• Background checks are required of chaperones that supervise students over night (5th grade camp) and for volunteers who work with children one on one. Everyone else will receive a visitors badge by scanning their drivers’ license through the Raptor system in front office.
PTA• PTA will provide each family a membership
envelope and calendar detailing PTA sponsored events.
• Dorsey’s PTA was named again GISD Outstanding Elementary PTA of the Year for the second year in a row! In addition, our campus is a National PTA School of Excellence for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 school years!
