Prepaid Utilities Procedure
Look up transaction sent to Service Provider – confirm the Meter is valid.
Step 2
Lookup returns Customer’s name and address
Step 3
Cashier validates correct customer details, process tender
Step 4
Select Prepaid Utilities no. Meter number is entered. Value is entered

Prepaid procedure is the same between Smart Meters and Manual (Pin) Meters.
The only difference is on the successful load voucher.
Successful load: Voucher with a PIN is printed. (Reprint is available)
Manual Meter Voucher
Successful load: Voucher with “Meter Updated” is printed. (Reprint is available). This means the meter was loaded remotely

PrepaidUtilitiesThese are important notes for Prepaid Utilities. The Customer must have pre-registered at their municipality in order to purchase prepaid utilities.When a meter number is entered (look up); the customer details are returned, It is important to verify the customer’s details with the customer to avoid purchasing a token for an incorrect meter number. Maximum Value = R1000 e.g. Customer
requires R1500 = try 3 x R500 vouchersIf Customer is in arrears – the municipality
takes the value towards arrears first

Prepaid Utilities Common Errors
ERROR MESSAGE TRANSLATION
“UNKNOWN_METER_ID” or “Meter not registered” Meter Number entered is not found
“TIMED-OUT” Upstream connectivity failed
“OFFLINE” Upstream connectivity failed
“Meter not Supported” Meter Number entered not supported or not listed with the requested municipality.
“Amount too Low” or “Less than Minimum” Amount entered is below the Minimum amount that can be purchased.
“Amount too High” Amount entered is above the Maximum amount that can be purchased.
“Invalid Merchant” Merchant (Store) is not registered to with service provider
“Unregistered Meter” Meter is not registered
“Meter Blocked” Meter has been blocked
“FBE Already Issued” Free Basic Electricity linked to the specific meter number has already been issued for the current month
