The First Characteristic of Life

Cells are in all living things.

People have cells and computers don’t.

The Second Characteristic of Life

All living things have DNA.

Plants have DNA and air conditioners don’t.

The Third Characteristic of Life

All living things have to have water and some kind of energy to run off of.

Chickens have to have water and a source energy to run off of and a marker doesn’t.

The Fourth Characteristic of Life

All living things are able to grow and reproduce.

Cats can grow and reproduce and a ruler can’t.

The Fifth Characteristic of Life

All living things must DIE.

A giraffe must die and a rock can’t.

The Sixth Characteristic of Life

All living things react to whatever happens around them.

A mosquito responds to their surroundings and a mirror doesn’t.

The Seventh Characteristic of LifeAll living things can move.

A bird can move and a desk can’t.

The Eighth Characteristic of Life

All living things can heal themselves.

An elephant can heal itself and a paper can’t.

All living things can change over times.

A snake can change over time and a stop sign can’t.
