CHRISTMAS BREAK - December 21st -January 3rd
Dear Parents. Welcome back after our Thanksgiving break, which I hope fortified you for the next three weeks. The next 15-days will be filled with wonderful activities and Christmas excitement.
As you may know, yesterday was the 1st Sunday of Advent, which begins the Church's liturgical year. The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17-24,we focus par-ticularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord (Christmas). For your convenience, we’ve uploaded a link to our website, www.hfcschool.com to Bish-op Robert Barron’s Word on Fire Ministry Daily Reflections on the Advent season. Let us all rejoice.
We have a couple of extra reasons to rejoice this week, the most important of which you can see below. With the first trimester behind us, below and in the pages ahead you will find the names of our exceptional students who made the Principal’s list along with High Honor & Honor Rolls. Congratulations to all!
One more congratulations is in order. We just found out we again made the Southwest Bulletin’s Top Private School list for 2017! To our teachers, to our staff, to our wonder-ful families, thank you for helping us make our school the best I can be. God Bless, Sister Dorothy Sayers, M.P.F.

Advent Prayer Intentions
In this Advent of expectation draw us together
in unity,
that our praise and worship might echo in
these walls and also through our lives.
In this Advent of expectation draw us together
in mission,
that the hope within might be the song we
sing, and the melody of our lives.
In this Advent of expectation draw us together
in service,
that the path we follow might lead us from a
Advent is a time of waiting for the Lord, united in the joy of
the Gospel. With confidence, we call upon the Father and pray:
Loving Father, during this holy season of Advent, keep us
watchful and alert. Fill our hearts with expectation so that
through the hope and tenderness of Christmas, we may shake
off our indifference. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Prayers of good luck to our lovely receptionist, Linda
Sheridan, who has left our school to pursue other opportuni-
ties. She says she is “very sad to leave & will miss everyone
terribly!”

Great job, boys!
ALLIE GURGEN’S LESSON IN LOVE!
Last week, Miss Allie (KC), pointed out a homeless person on our way home. Sad to see him on the side of the road, she said wanted to help him. I had no cash. But if she wanted to help, I said, we could do something. She suggested we host a lemonade stand to raise money. I was touched and happy to facilitate. We discussed pricing, where proceeds would go, and the concept of giving "change" back (her math skills are coming along! ). Armed with lemonade, tea, and cookies, "proper" signage and a table, we set out. What a day. She had her first customers before we were even set up. For 90 minutes, she held signs, called to everyone in sight, and learned what an Arnold Palmer was.
She noticed people ignore her, laugh, and be genuinely touched. One gentleman
drove by in a golf cart. "I KNOW he will hear me, mama - he has no doors!!"
Never have I been prouder of this spunky, compassionate, determined, 6-year-old. As
we tallied the earnings, she ran to get her own coin bag, asking if we could donate,
too. Allie earned $103 to donate to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida!!
She couldn't believe it. "Mama, they're gonna be rich!" My heart, overflowing with
love for who she is becoming, felt as though it would burst. We may not make them
rich, but I am blessed to say, I know we sure are.
~ written by her mom, Barbara Lozano ~ Allie donated $206 to the Coalition for the
Homeless! For more information to help or donate: www.centralfloridahomeless.org/
