Free Services

WritingOne-on-One Writing Tutorials• 30-minutes sessions available for walk-ins or by

appointment (recommended).

• Tutors provide individualized instruction on global improvements: thesis, organization, development, and continuity.

Group Tutoring• Students can choose to enroll in a .5 unit,

credit/no credit course, and the cost is equal to 1/2 unit. All other tutorial services are free.

• Groups of 2-4 students meet twice per week with a tutor for 50-minute sessions to receive guidance on class writing assignments.

Workshops Offered• Also free to students, our 50-minute basic skills

workshops are designed to offer support in multiple subjects.

• These subjects include math, science, history,

and different elements of writing such as the writing process and MLA and APA formatting.

• These workshops are based on general interest

from students and recommendations from faculty.

We also work with faculty to improve writingacross the curriculum and help students in allsubject areas. The following resources areavailable for Clovis faculty:

• In-Class Workshops • Tutorial Center Workshops

Math and Science• We have an open study room with white boards,

tables, and a learning-friendly atmosphere.

• Students can seek help from math tutors at any time or work independently; math tutors are available during listed Tutorial Center hours.

Study Skills Assessment• Brief online assessment helps students

understand their learning styles and identify strategies to bolster academic achievement.

• Tutors provide additional guidance, including customized study plans with individualized test-taking strategies and tips.

Subject TutoringThe Tutorial Center provides free tutoring to all students in a variety of subjects including, butnot limited to:

• Chemistry

• English / Writing

• Information Systems

• Mathematics

• Philosophy

• Physics

• Political Science

• Psychology

• Statistics
