Disclosure StatementThe FDA has issued a concept paper that classifies com-mercial support of scientific and educational programs as promotional unless it can be affirmed that the program is “truly independent” and free of commercial influence. In addi-tion to independence, the FDA requires that non-promotional, commercially supported education be objective, balanced and scientifically rigorous. The policy further states that all potential conflicts of interest of the CME staff and faculty be fully disclosed to the program’s participants. In addition, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education policy now mandates that the provider adequately manage all identi-fied potential conflicts of interest prior to the program. We at UCLA fully endorse the letter and spirit of these concepts.
Early registration is recommended, as space is limited.

from the attributes of ultrasound • Recognize transducer and required equip-
ment selection• Describe normal and abnormal findings
on ultrasound and to be able to recognize MSK-specific pitfalls and artifacts
• Recognize the dynamic and interactive properties of an ultrasound examination
• Become familiar with the gamut of ultra-sound guided procedures
• Review of anatomy and basic techniques

UCLA Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course and Hands-on WorkshopCOURSE DESCRIPTIONThe UCLA Department of Radiology in collaboration with key physicians from both Departments of Sports Medicine and Rheumatology recognizes the demand for musculoskeletal ultrasound and is proud to offer an intensive and comprehensive hands-on learning opportunity. The MSK Ultrasound Course and Workshop, discusses the pertinent theoretical and practical points of upper and lower extremity ultrasound. In addition, this year we have added new topics such as ultrasound guided nerve block, an update on ultrasound guided treatment options, and economics of MSK ultrasound. The popular panel discussion addressing questions from the audience will be conducted at the end of each morning following the didactic lectures.
The course also includes live split screen demonstrations which present the basic MSK sonogra-phy techniques and the optimal imaging essential for accurate application. The inclusive interac-tive, hands-on workshop provides an opportunity to master the techniques through small group training with specialists. The additional option of specialty training in the Cadaver Lab is ideal in providing real life, real time training of ultrasound guided procedures training to expand the clini-cal scope of care for attendees.
Note: Early registration for the optional cadaver lab is recommended, enrollment is limited to 24 participants. There is an additional fee for this workshop.
