Mise en sceneThis is the arrangement of everything that appears in the setting e.g. actors, props, lighting, costumes. It communicates essential information to the audience and it also visual information in front of the camera.

Cinematography • It’s the art of photography and camerawork in film-making.There are many different techniques used in cinematography such as the introduction to the film, camera shots angles and movements, lighting, as well as mise en scene. Furthermore it includes special effects and sound, and lastly props and editing.

Editing • The work of selecting and joining together shots to create a finished

film.• Editing describes the relationship between shots and the process.• Filmmakers and editors work with a goal in their mind, editing is the

most important part of film making as you are combining various scenes together in order to make sense of the film.

Sound • Sound is very important in a film it helps us determine where the

scene is taking place and what may be happening during the film, some filmmakers may use sound in a film to help heighten the mood.• In a horror film editors may use scary music and sound effects to

frighten the audience or to make them jump at certain parts of the film.• There are two categories of sound in a film: Diegetic and Non-

Diegetic.

Performance • In order to have a successful film you must have good actors

otherwise the film will be a mess.• to perform is a theoretical act that is usually before an audience.
