Providing training for professionals with relevant seagoing experience who want to change career and work in a higher position. The marine surveying profession is not regulated in France. Aware of the lack of qualifications of « consulting engineers » in this field, the National Maritime College (ENSM), Le Havre University and professional bodies have joined to offer training to become a marine surveyor.
1/ Seafarers holding an « unlimited » certificate at a management level as defined by the STCW convention with a five-year minimum work experience as First Mate :Certificates : Captain or Commanding Officer, Chief Engineer, First officer, Second Engineer2/ Officers in the navy having reached the rank of captain of corvette at least with relevant sea service experience. 3/ Non seafarers who can show the same level of skills and experience.
The university Degree (a five-year post Baccalauréat degree) is granted by the university jury headed by a teacher/researcher at Le Havre University. Universities are authorized to create university degrees ( D.U. ) ( Decree n°5 dated April 12, 1994 : RLR 430-2d). It validates a specific training curriculum, meant to meet needs on a local or regional level not addressed by national diplomas.Continuous Assessment Evaluation during training
From January 19, 2015 to May 28, 2016 (final exam from May 23 to May 28, 2016)
300 hours divided into 10 modules and 1 optional 30-hour course.
12 maximum
A jury consisting of the dean of the university or his/her representative, the head of the continuing education department, a teacher at the National Mari-time College ( Ensm) and a professional preselects candidates.
Maritime teachers, university teachers/researchers, maritime surveyors, executives in the maritime field, qualified personalities.
