USING CATT-BRAMS FOR NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF THE TRANSPORT OF

POLLUTION EMITTED BY VEGETATION FIRES OVER EUROPE IN 2003

6th RAMS/BRAMS/OLAM International Users Workshop. 12- 14 May, Ubatuba, Brazil

Objective

The objective is to investigate the atmospheric transport of gases and particles emitted by biomass burning during the occurrence of heat wave that affected Europe on August 2003 (critical period occurred between 31th July and 03th of August). The simulations were implemented using the on-line 3-D transport model CATT-BRAMS (Coupled Aerosol and Tracer Transport model to the Brazilian developments on the Regional Atmospheric Modeling System) coupled to

an emission model.
