Using SMIT - Commands

F1 Displays help on the topic

F2 Refreshes the screen

F3 Cancels the current command

F4 Displays the list of possible values

[Esc] [5] Erases contents of current field

Using SMIT - Commands

F6 Displays the command that will be run

F7 Edits the contents of the current field

F8 Shows the fast path of the current menu

F9 Forks a new shell

F10 Exits smit all the way to the shell prompt

[Enter] Runs the command

Using SMIT

When in a SMIT menu, the following characters may appear:

Signifies that the field is required to have a value enteredIf present, * will appear on the

left side of the screen

Signifies that there is a “pop-up” menu availableIf present, + will be on the right side of the screen

Signifies that the field requires a numeric valueIf present, # will be on the right side of the screen

Device type determines the terminal or printer driver to be assigned to the TTY to properly control the device

The system will use the TERM environment variable in smit tty

A process that takes up more then .5 % of the CPU usage

Very useful in finding out why the system is running slow

Just because a process appears on the list, does not mean that it is a problem!
