About the ECE Department

The Electronics and Communication Engineering (E.C.E) department was established in the year

1999. The department offers an undergraduate (UG) program in Electronics and Communication

Engineering and two post graduate (PG) programs – one in Digital Electronics and Communication

Systems (DECS) and the other in Embedded Systems (ES) specialization that provide students with

the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in the Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Research in the department focuses on high – impact various disciplines: VLSI Technologies,

Embedded Systems, Communications and Signal Processing, Virtual Instrumentation and RF and

Microwave Engineering. Currently the department offers four year B.Tech course with student

intake of 240. Both the PG Courses have an intake of 18 students each.

VISION To produce competent engineers with social responsibility to address the global challenges in

the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

MISSION Promote active learning strategies to facilitate student centric learning.

Provide self learning capabilities to enhance employability and entrepreneurial skills.

Inculcate human values and ethics to make learners sensitive towards societal issues.

Strengthen core competencies among the learners through experiential curriculum.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO1: Graduates will be able to foster continuing education with their existing knowledge in the

field of Electronics and Communication Engineering.

PEO2: Graduates will be able to evolve with the ever changing global technological advancements and cater to the needs of the society.

PEO3: Graduates will be able to demonstrate leadership skills to address issues in a responsive,

ethical and innovative manner.

PEO4: Graduates will be able to excel in career while contributing to the growth of their

Centres of Excellence Laboratories

Center of Excellence in Cadence VLSI Design

Vardhaman College of Engineering is well equipped with cadence Design software from

Cadence which is the leading EDA and System Design Enablement provider. It offers

certificate courses in Logic Design and physical design. This center will enable the

department to deliver projects from RTL to GDS-II, and FULL CUSTOM Design based on real

time ideas that can be implemented onto chip. This software also offers various types of

design and verification tasks which include:

VCE-Center of Excellence in Cadence VLSI Design is established in 2012 with certified

trainers intended to enhance student’s skill and upgrade their hands on experience in this

domain. Cadence technology helps students build great projects that connect their

innovative ideas.

Center of Excellence in Virtual Instrumentation (NI LabVIEW Academy)

Vardhaman College of Engineering entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with

National Instruments, India to offer certificate courses in LabVIEW. This NI LabVIEW

Academy will enable the campus to deliver project‐based learning to the classroom,

enhance research applications and foster the next generation of innovators. With the

intuitive nature of graphical system design educators and researchers can design,

prototype, and deploy their applications.

VCE-NI LabVIEW Academy is established in 2014 with eight CLAD certified trainers

intended to enhance students’ skill and upgrade their hands on experience in this domain.

The NI LabVIEW (short for Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench)

Academy is a tailored version of an internationally recognized curriculum created by

National Instruments (NI) - one of the world’s leading providers of software and hardware

for measurement and control.

Center of Excellence in Signal Processing

Vardhaman College of Engineering has established a research center in signal processing.

The Center has started its functioning in its state-of-the-art Signal and Image Processing

Projects.

Objectives:

Conduct fundamental, strategic and applied research of the highest quality to meet

needs and opportunities in industry

Foster inter-disciplinary research collaboration supported by innovation and

excellence.

Ensure leading position in the world for research on Signal and Image Processing.

Center of Excellence in Microwave, Antennas and RF Engineering (COEMARE)

The COEMARE is one of the major research centers in Vardhaman College of Engineering

that was established in the year 2015 with objectives of

To create awareness among the students about latest trends in RF field.

To give training on various RF simulation tools like HFSS

To design and fabricate RF components

To create job Opportunities in RF field

To promote research in RF and Microwave Engineering.

The COEMARE is equipped with ANSYS HFSS (25 User) academic bundle. ANSYS HFSS

software is the industry standard for simulating 3 – D, full – wave, electromagnetic fields.

Its gold – standard accuracy, advanced solvers and high – performance computing

technologies make it an essential tool for engineers tasked with executing accurate and

rapid design in high – frequency and high – speed electronic devices and platforms.

COEMARE’s research group focuses on the development of RF and microwave systems, and

antenna designs.

Centre of Excellence in IoT (Intel)

Internet of Things popularly recognized as IoT is an emerging disruptive technology of the

21st century. Quite simply because “smart objects” can now freely “talk” to each other and

generate enormous volumes of data spread across disparate communication networks. The

Centre of Excellence for IoT - a combined initiative of Vardhaman College of Engineering,

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Foundation for Innovation &

Collaborative Education (FICE), INTEL - is expected to promote an IoT ecosystem, which is

vibrant & at the same time innovative, that will help our country attain a leadership role in

this field. VCE- INTEL IoT LAB is established in 2016 with full fledged incubation

infrastructure.

VERVE is the annual technical Fest of the Department of Electronics and

Communication Engineering, Vardhaman college of Engineering organized by

VERVE-the Students’ Technical Association. It aims at bringing the students of ECE

of Vardhaman to develop new breakthroughs in their respective fields that later

might bring a revolution in the field. The ideas of the students are respected by the

Department and it provides a platform to showcase their talent in front of their

juniors. The event spans across an entire day of intense project presentation,

discussions, demonstrations and debates before the panel of expert judges and the

junior students.

VERVE enables our students to identify the real life problems of society, take up the

challenges and new technologies in the field of ECE and thus nurture and develop

their skill set in this arena.

students to showcase their creative skills and to promote research among the students. On 08 Apr

2019 annual project expo was conducted under ISTE student chapter.

ORTUS is the annual social and cultural festival of Vardhaman College of Engineering spread over

TWO DAYS is a beautiful platter of music, dance, workshops, poetry recitals, rangoli, quizzing,

debating and many more such activities which make the students to show case their hidden talents.

As many as events spread through two days attended by students, parents and people from across

the society resonated through campus.

ORTUS is an avenue to be comforted for the students and the faculty from the routine life and to

embrace the fun and frolic.

DAY 1 of ORTUS (Cultural & Traditional Day)

A symphony of nostalgia begins with the students who walk down the lanes of the campus wearing

traditional dresses followed by a galaxy of cultural events like singing, dancing, drama, cooking and

many more.

DAY 2 of ORTUS (Sports Day)

Starts with fun games and sports like treasure hunt, musical chairs, cricket matches, and

many more such magnificent fun and flying events and finally ends with DJ and Star Night.
