Vatican Wheelchair Accessible Guided Tour

Most tourists at the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Raphael Rooms have to follow a tour route that involves multiple flights of stairs.

www.sagetraveling.com

• This route is also followed by many of the guided tours of the Vatican.

During our Vatican wheelchair accessible guided tour, disabled tourists will be allowed to follow a different, accessible route.

www.sagetraveling.com

• The disabled visitor and one of their companions will be separated from the rest of the group temporarily before meeting up with the rest of the group again.

This will happen once before the Sistine Chapel and again before visiting St. Peter’s Basilica.

• Unfortunately, this route is the only way for disabled tourists to visit the Vatican on a group tour.• If you would like to stay with the tour guide at all times, we recommend a Vatican wheelchair accessible private tour.

This 3 hour wheelchair accessible Vatican tour will visit the most famous sights that the Vatican has to offer including the Vatican Museums, the Raphael Rooms, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square, and St. Peter’s Basilica.

Accessibility Description

www.sagetraveling.com

• During this Vatican wheelchair accessible tour, disabled visitors will enter the Vatican museums by using an elevator and a ramp.• After visiting the Vatican museums, the disabled visitor and one companion will be able to take an alternate route to avoid the stairs on the normal route leading to the Sistine Chapel. • These two people will be able to meet back up with your guide before using an elevator and a wheelchair lift to obtain disabled access to the Sistine Chapel.

After visiting the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, most tour group participants take a shortcut through a staircase to reach St. Peter’s Basilica.

www.sagetraveling.com

• Disabled visitors who can not go down a flight of stairs will have to take the long route back to the Vatican Museums entrance then follow a 500 meter route outside of the Vatican city walls to reach the accessible entrance of St. Peter’s basilica. • You will be separated from the tour guide for about 30 minutes. • For this reason, we recommend the private Vatican accessible tour as the best option.

This tour has a 4 Star Sage Accessibility Rating because it has a step-free route that is suitable for manual wheelchair users, power wheelchair users, and mobility scooter users.

www.sagetraveling.com

• It did not get a 5 star rating because the guide is not able to push you during the tour.
