The City On Water
Venice, ItalyMay,2008
Seven hundred years ago, Venetian Macro Polo traveled by the Silk Road to China
Seven hundred years later, a Chinese girl arrived Macro Polo Airport
And the one-day exploration at the city on water began...
Off the bus, Venice welcomed me with this bridge and countless visitors
Went out of the hostel, morning glory-decorated windows caught my eye
A meandering alley led me to this serene place with a cute bridge ahead
Walking closer, I found this couple framed perfectly with the surroundings
Across the water, a gentleman was taking photos at an outside Cafe
#1417, a wooden door harmonized the peeled-off old wall
Together with two ladies, a handsome Venetian was going home after work
Boats were sleeping in the narrow river with a reflection of the sky, buildings, and trees
Washed clothes and linens were hanging outside as if the perfect companion to the blue sky
A white rose was telling the romantic story of someone living inside
A chubby boy and a cute girl were sitting on the threshold and enjoying cold drinks
A square corner, many kids were playing games
Climbing on the wooden boards, a boy's pleasure which I couldn't understand
Oh, kids' games like this are universal
This was perfect teamwork. Won't you agree?
The masterpieces of Italian music origins from where?
Nowadays Venice merchants selling all kinds of art pieces such as Murano glass necklaces
An Old church wearing a watercolor outfit
Quiet river, relaxed visitors, and a wide square afternoon
Devout Catholics were praying inside this gorgeous church
The most beautiful harbor for Venice's famous vehicle-gondola
The black Gondola and a white-framed bridge led way to this river-side home
Bridges never ends
A city reflected in the quiet water with a pretty gondola
Gondolas waiting for businesses in the morning
A busy morning at the city on water
A merchant boat, the symbol of Venice, floating on the sea called Bacino Di San Marco
Overlooking San Marco from the waterbus
Getting closer, marvelous buildings were standing on St. Mark's Square
Visitors crowded the wide square
Feeding pigeons was more than an enjoyable experience
The medieval hallway became the perfect lounge
Pigeons come and go, resting on these beautiful square lamps
The famous Procuratie
Heading Lido, I saw a cruise ship arriving while turning head
On the blue sea, enjoy yachting
The Seagull was the angle of Venice
The end of the island leads to the Mediterranean
If Italy is a crown on the Mediterranean, then Venice is an exquisite gem on the crown.
I wish you enjoyed and will enjoy the beauty of Venice as I did in May, 2008.
