Background: Think about taking care of your teeth on a daily basis.

● Students learn how often and when to brush their teeth.● Students learn how often to floss their teeth. ● Students learn that taking care of their teeth is important

for their overall health.

Can you name three things that you can do every day that are good for your teeth? Write them down.

Did you have any of these things on your list?● Brush your teeth● Floss● Use mouthwash● Eat healthy food● Drink low sugar drinks● Limit sugary foods● Limit sour candies● Limit sodas and sugary drinks● Limit citrus foods like lemons● Don’t chew ice● Go to the dentist regularly

All of these things are good for taking care of your teeth. Four of these are the most important things you should do daily to take care of your teeth.

1. Eat and Drink healthy

○ Drink Low sugar drinks

○ Limit sodas and sugary drinks

○ Limit sugary foods

○ Limit sour candies

○ Drink milk

○ Eat cheese

○ Eat fruits & vegetables

2. Brush your teeth dailyBrush your teeth twice daily; in the morning and before bed.

*You can brush after each meal.

*The most important time to brush your teeth is before bed.

*Don’t forget to brush your tongue!

3. Floss your teeth daily*The most important time to floss your teeth is before bed. You can floss after each meal.

4. Visit your Dentist regularly

Why do you think it is it important to take care of your teeth?

Even more important than having a nice smile is that your health is linked to how you take care of your teeth!
