Oculus VR, a leading developer of virtual reality(VR) technology, recently purchased a Danishstartup, The Eye Tribe, which creates softwarethat can be controlled by the motion of humaneyes.
After a brief calibration period,The Eye Tribe's technologysimply follows the normal
motion of your eyes. You caneven use it to play games, likeFruit Ninja, with your eyes
alone!
While Oculus is interested in the technology for VR and gaming purposes, it also has incredible potentialfor digital health. Eye-tracking technology could help patients with diseases like ALS to communicate, itcould be used as part of immersive therapies to study the direction of a patient's gaze, and so much more!
