How do they get used?

Your discarded glasses can bring physical sight to the needy . . . and help to banish

their spiritual blindness as well.

So how do we get from a bag

of unsorted glasses . . .

. . . to fitting

someone in Mexico?

First we separate the cases from the glasses.

Next they get washed:in the dishwasher,

or by hand.

The glasses are sorted,

and stored by category.

An autolensometer “reads” the presecription of each pair of glasses and

prints it out.

The glasses and their prescription go into a little

zip-lock bag.

They are then placed in gallon zip lock They are then placed in gallon zip lock bags of similar prescriptions and bags of similar prescriptions and

We often take 15 or more trunks on a trip!

The trunks of glasses fly as

luggage to our mission location.

At the host church people register,

and then go to the welcome & counseling area.

Next is a vision test -- both distance & close

vision.

Using special equipment and test glasses we find the

prescription needed.
