District of Columbia Schools (Clusters II & III) Facility Condition Assessment Washington, DC

Facility Engineering Associates, P.C. (FEA) assessed the condition and estimated the repair and renovation costs of specific schools for the District of Columbia Office of Property Management (DCOPM). Many of the buildings were of historic nature. As a consequence, any rehabilitative recommendations related to the building exteriors incorporated the requirements to maintain the building’s historic architecture.

FEA reviewed the physical status of the twelve schools in Clusters II & III dividing the work into six general areas of concentration:

A visual condition assessment A determination of maintenance and upgrade

issues A feasibility assessment for the buildings to attain

LEED Silver Certification Identification of opportunities to make the

buildings energy efficient The development of a long-term capital

repair/renewal project and an associated opinion of cost
