Self-Enrol groups are an easyway to allow students to signup for electives, workshops orevents.

In the Control Panel, chooseUsers and Groups > Groups.

Click Create Group Set > Self-Enrol.

N.B. You can also create a single Self-Enrol group by clicking CreateSingle Group > Self-Enrol.

Add a name for the group set,and any descriptive text.

If the purpose of using the Self-Enrol groups tool is purely topopulate class lists, ToolAvailability can be de-selected.However, you may also wishstudents to give studentsaccess Journals or Blogs, forexample. This can be edited atany stage.

Add a name and any descriptiveinformation to be displayed onthe sign-up sheet.

If you have a capacity forcertain group sizes, you canspecify here.

You can also set the number of groupsyou wish to create here. So if there are5 different workshops for students tochoose between, create 5 groups.

The 5 groups have been created.Settings can be edited (e.g. if you wishto make the group name more specific)by clicking the arrow to the right of thename and choosing Edit Group.

To make the Self-Enrol groups availableto students, navigate to a content area(e.g. Learning Materials). Click on theTools menu and choose Groups.

Click on Link to a Group orGroup Set and select the GroupSet you have created. ClickNext.

Add a name for the link and anyinformation you wish.

Set availability and click Submit.

A sign up link now appears at thebottom of the content area. This can berepositioned by clicking and dragging.

Click Edit Mode off to preview whatstudents will see. Click the sign-up link.

This is a preview of what students willsee. Once they have receivedinformation on the different options,they can sign up by clicking a button.

When a student signs up, theywill see their name on theGroup Members list and thename of the group under MyGroups.

They will also have access toany Tools that have been leftavailable to the group.
