Swedish “Youth guarantee” replaced “Special community programmes for young people” 2007

Due to:• High rates of youth unemployment • Strong demand on the labour market

Target group:• Unemployed jobseekers registered at

Arbetsförmedlingen, aged 16-24 years• Unemployed for three months

Goal:• Work or back to school

Aim

• Counteract youth unemployment• Reduce time in unemployment

By concrete and individually shaped activities, support from the Arbetsförmedlingen and continuous matching towards the labour market

Swedish Youth Guarantee

Concept

• A programme oriented to provide the youth (under 25) several tools, in order to facilitate their introduction into the labour market.

• These tools are offered according to their individual needs

Starting point

• Information Meeting (after 3 months)

• Individual profiling/action plan (current opportunities, potential developments, etc.)

• Internships, promotion of entrepreneurships, private providers, short training courses based on labour market needs.

• Subsidized employment (New start jobs, “Yrkesintroduktionsanställningar” (apprenticeships) and internships)
