The Planning Process

Day One: Thursday March 20th

Early Morning (6:30-8:00am) Students need to arrive at William Annin at 6:30 a.m.

Students should not take the BUS to school Thursday morning.

Luggage searches will be conducted.

Attendance will be taken.

Coach buses will depart by 8:00a.m.

Rest stop- bathroom break (9:30am)

Arrive in D.C.

Eat bag lunch (no glass or carbonated drinks)

Tour of Arlington National Cemetery 1.Kennedy graves, 2. Challenger Memorial 3. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier- Changing of the Guard 4. U.S.S. Maine

• A 250,000-square-foot news museum which offers

visitors a state-of-the-art experience that blends news

history with up-to-the-second technology and hands-on

exhibits.

•The Newseum Institute serves as a forum for First

Amendment study, exploration and education

Smithsonian Institute Museums & the Mall Area -Students will choose their destination -Each student gets $10 lunch stipend

approaching Basking

Ridge.

Souvenir Money

Students may want to bring money to buy

souvenirs, snacks, etc. A suggested amount

is $40.00.

The only money the students will need for

food will be to buy dinner at the rest stop on

the way home. Your child should save

$15.00-$20.00 for this meal.

A student to chaperone ratio of 8:1

42 Teacher chaperones plus…

3 Advisors, 3 Nurses, & 3 Administrators…

Equals a total of 81 adult chaperones

Safety is our number one priority

All of the rules & procedures are designed to ensure your

Important Details

General Rules

As a school trip, we expect the students to follow William

Annin’s rules:

- Dress Code

- Cell Phones off and on their person (must bring separate

camera and watch)

- Following Directions

- Respectful Behavior

Appropriate disciplinary action (from verbal warnings to

removal from the trip) will be taken if rules are not adhered to.

Weather

The trip is rain or shine, please make sure your child is prepared for all conditions.

Packing

A detailed list of what to pack will be provided in your child’s trip booklet.

Meals

Dietary needs & restrictions can be accommodated. Please include any special needs on your child’s medical form. 18 C

Carry-On Bag

Jacket, Sweatshirt, Hat (yes, you can wear a hat)

Light Rainwear- no umbrellas please

Tissues, hand-sanitizer

Lunch for Thursday- no glass or carbonated beverages

Water & Snacks: 1 Ziploc gallon bag of candy per

student
