World Geography Syllabus

In this class we will be learning about the geographical make-up of Earth. We will also learn about how humans interact with their environment. By the end of this course I hope that we will understand what it means to be an active, responsible, and knowledgeable citizen of the world. The following includes information about what you can expect this year in World Geography.

Expectations
Be on time, on task and prepared to learn. Respect the teacher, the classroom, other students and yourself. Be productive by following directions, listening carefully and reducing
distractions. Be responsible for your own learning.
Consequences
Verbal warning “Behavior Think Sheet” in order to reflect on decisions made. Student – teacher conference Parent contact Disciplinary referral
Severity Clause
In the event that a student endangers others, violates the law, prevents the teacher from teaching or the students from learning, they will be referred straight to an administrator and will not follow the standard consequences.
Procedures
Do not disrupt the class to use the restroom. Please sign in before and out after each use. Be sure to catch up on any classwork you missed.
Cell phone and headphone use is permitted in class ONLY when the teacher allows it.
Grading
40% Authentic Assessments - (Major tests, major essays, major projects)30% Classwork (Class assignments and quizzes)20% Enrichment & Acceleration (Extra assignments when not on grade level)10% Participation (Completion of assignments)
Grading Scale: 90 -100% = A80 - 89% = B70 - 79% = C60 - 69% = D 0 - 59% = F
Late Assignments
Assignments can be turned in up to five days after the initial due date, however 10 points will be reduced for each day it is late. For example, an assignment turned in three days late can only reach as high as a 70%.
