The Historical Setting
The History Bromham Mill is a restored water mill dating back to the 17th
century, set in 7 acres of water meadows. Within the mill buildings are a craft and art gallery, and a fascinating museum of waterways and milling.
There was a mill on this site on the River Great Ouse at the time of the Doomsday Book (1086 AD). The site provided more than just an opportunity to grind grain, however; the river was rich in eels, and a blacksmiths shop stood beside the mill. An apple orchard nearby provided tough wood for the gear teeth of the mill.Bromham Bridge, with fully 26 arches, spans the river beside the mill. There are several way marked circular trails through the parkland that surrounds the mill.
The history of Bromham Mill adds character to a perfect wedding venue.
