PSU-MSU Blood Donor Challenge&

Alpha Epsilon Delta Blood Cup

BLOOD CUP COMMITTEE

What is it?• The PSU-MSU Blood Donor Challenge is a friendly

competition between PSU and MSU to see who can collect the most blood in the month of November (three weeks)

• The Alpha Epsilon Delta Blood Cup is a friendly competition among Penn State organizations to try to get as many clubs involved in our campaign so we can win!– Large, Small, and Greek Group Winners

• This will be the 17th year! Penn State is ahead by 11-5

Why is it Important?

• Every 2 seconds someone needs blood in the United States.

• We collect thousands of pints of blood for the Greater Alleghenies and the Great Lakes Blood Region elevating blood inventories immediately before the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays

• Penn State continues to have one of the most successful blood donation programs in the country thanks to support from students, faculty and staff

When is it?

• The Challenge takes place from November 1st through November 18th

• Blood drive almost every day (residence halls, HUB, Kunkle Lounge, etc)

AED’s Role

• AED co-sponsors the Blood Cup by…– Giving classroom announcements to increase

awareness about the Challenge– Handling the blood cup book at blood drives– Volunteering at blood drives

• All of the blood drives are on our website (sign up to volunteer or donate)– http://www.psuredcross.org

• To be an active division of THON by raising money for pediatric cancer treatment.

• To keep in contact with our THON-Family and help them as needed.

• EVERY MEMBER IS REQUIRED TO GO ON AT LEAST ONE CANNING TRIP!!!!

• Those that drive will receive a canning point AND an honors point!

• Canning Weekends:- October 23rd and 24th

- December 4th and 5th

- January 22nd and 23rd

- February 12th and 13th

• Locations- Elizabethville- Lebanon- Mansfield- Everett

• Remember to dress WARMLY!

1st Canning Weekend (Oct. 23rd and 24th)

• THONvelopes- Each person in the committee will be required to fill out

15 THONvelopes.- Honors points might be awarded for additional

participation.• Family Visits- We will be making trips throughout the year to see the

family. If you want to go let us know.• THONline Fundraising- This may become an option later in the semester.

Social/PR Committee

• Organize and plan social events– Create bonding environments to boost club

morale!

• Recruit future AED members across campus• Advertise meetings, etc.
