These counties are divided into nine districts
and governed by Cobb EMC’s board of directors, listed in the sidebar on the left of this page, who are elected by and from the membership.
We operate in accordance with corporate bylaws and service rules and regulations, agreed to by the membership.

• Take our online home energy audit.
• On peak notification days, pre-cool your home and set thermostats to 82 degrees or higher during the peak conservation hours.

HOW TO READ YOUR BILL
1. Account Number and Service Address: The account number and service address of the account where electric service is provided.
2. Pages: Occasionally, the content of your bill may overflow to a second page.
3. Due Date & Amount Due: The amount owed and the date on which it is due.
4. Account Summary: Current and recent activity.
5. Service Period: The dates during which current charges were accumulated.
6. Current Charges: A detailed breakdown of the individual charges that make up your current bill. These include a service charge (monthly cost to deliver service), peak service charge (highest kWh/hour during a peak notification period or highest kWh/hour during the current month if a peak notification period has not been established), peak service charge line one (first 3.0 kWh/hour billed at $0.00 per kWh/hour), peak service charge line two (over 3.0 kWh/hour billed at $5.55 per kWh/hour), energy charge (kWh usage), WPA (an adjustment to follow fluctuations related to wholesale power purchase costs), state and local taxes, Operation Round Up® donation (if applicable) and charges for any other service.
7. Current Electricity Usage: Detailed information about electricity usage for the current service period, including the meter number, start and end readings and the total kWh used.
8. Peak Service kWh/hour: Your billed kWh/hour.
9. Historical Electricity Usage Graph: Shows the amount of electricity usage for each month of the past year (If you have had service at the property for less than a year, you will only see usage for the period of time you have had service at the property.)

11. Payment Stub: This portion of the bill is front-and-back and should be returned along with your bill payment each month. Make sure the Cobb EMC address shows through the return address envelope window. The back of the payment stub includes instructions on various ways to pay your bill. It also includes areas to authorize recurring Auto Pay transactions and to change your account information, including phone number and mailing address.
The Smart Choice RateThe Smart Choice Rate gives you a smart way to manage your bill. Simply control your use at the right time – during peak conservation hours – to control your bill.
Peak hours are determined by the times of day when energy is in highest demand. On specified days when peak use heightens we’ll ask you to conserve energy from 2-7 p.m.

How will I know when peak conservation hours are called? Members will be notified a day before the peak conservation hours are expected via:

Words to knowPeak Notification Days: June through September on hot summer weekdays when Cobb EMC forecasts that we will experience higher peak use conditions. Cobb EMC may call peak conservation hours during the peak notification days. Peak notification days will exclude weekends and holidays.
Peak Conservation Hours: The period between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. only when we are experiencing high peak energy use during peak notification days. This is the time to conserve energy and money.
Peak Service Charge: Based on the highest one-hour consumption of energy (kWh/hour) established by the member during peak conservation hours (Cobb EMC will specify in advance) or the highest consumption used during the month if peak conservation hours kWh/hour has not been set. The peak service charge that you set will affect your rate for up to the next 12 months.

Smart Choice Rate and your billBy lowering your use during peak conservation hours just a little, you can lower your annual cost of service.
With the Smart Choice Rate, your peak service charge is determined by the highest energy need that you demand during Cobb EMC’s peak conservation hours. The peak service charge that you set will affect your rate for up to the next 12 months. That’s why it’s important to conserve energy during the peak conservation hours.
Let’s take a look at three scenarios** using the same amount of electricity – 1000 kWh:
