Just in case you have forgotten what FPC

looks like!

No Sunday went by without the promise of

doughnuts, a covenant signed

by families promising to deliver

the sweet Eucharist.

I waited 40 days or more till it was our turn

and I could finally experience the

laying on of my small hands.

I wake up now on Sundays recalling

That hall, those families and

that weekly sacrament that kept me

coming back.

Sunday in the Fellowship Hall of the Presbyterian Church

Doughnuts and coffee were a sacrament

I never wanted to miss taking,

holy doughnuts in the massive Fellowship Hall

between the time Sunday School ended

and church began up in the sanctuary.

The ones baptized with powdered sugar

were my favorite, but I also loved the ones

anointed with icing. Either way, the front of my

Sunday dress proved to the congregation

that I had been partaking.

John Calvin himself would have been a glutton

for these doughnuts made by slapping

the cylinder of biscuits, pulling the manna

to shape a holy center and dropped into

an iron skillet of hot grease.
