• Our goal is to build a master schedule for 4,000 students that provides appropriate class size, individualized programming and stewards responsibly our financial resources.

• Our goal is to provide you with the best advisement and course information to set your child up for success in the critical first year of high school.

• The most important counsel we offer regarding course selection is for the freshman year.

• Our goal is to serve the strengths and needs of our students and connect them with the classes that address both.

• Eighth Grade Teachers will complete course recommendations by January 14th.

• Neuqua Valley High School Department Chairs will place students in appropriate programs by January 31.

• Requests to re‐examine placement decisions need to be communicated to high school department chairs by January 31.

• Courses with Levels:Math, English, Social Studies, and Science.

• Specialized Courses: Literacy Strategies and Algebra Block.

• Specialized Programs: IEP, ELL, Music

• Eighth Grade Teacher Recommendation

• Grades in Coursework

•Be patient. The transition to high school takes time.

– New social environment, level of involvement, rigor, etc.

•Don’t end your involvement, but adjust it.

•Help establish routines.

•Monitor progress in school, along with social habits.

•Be prepared to use the accelerator and the brake.
