PSAT Testing

About PSAT

The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a program cosponsored by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). It's a standardized test that provides firsthand practice for the SAT®. It also gives you a chance to enter NMSC scholarship programs and gain access to college and career planning tools.

The PSAT measures: Critical reading skills Math problem-solving skills Writing skills

The PSAT will be administered to all sophomores/juniors that registered on October 15th.

SAT Testing

The Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is a program cosponsored by

the College Board. It's a standardized test that provides colleges with

information to make decisions regarding admission. The SAT measures:

Critical reading skills Math problem-solving skills Writing skills

Includes three kinds of questions: Multiple-choice questions Student-produced responses (mathematics only) Essay question Is machine-scored, except for the essay

PLAN Test PLAN is designed to improve students' preparation for education,

training, and work after high school.

The PLAN covers: English Mathematics Reading Science

PLAN points out academic strengths and areas for improvement and lets students know if they're on track for college.

Provides an estimated ACT score.

PLAN helps them find careers that match their interests and even helps connect them with colleges interested in them.

PLAN scores can also used to determine eligibility for the Career and College Promise program at Durham Tech

All 10th grade students will take this exam October 22nd

ACT Testing

The ACT® test assesses high school students' general educational development and their ability to complete college-level work.

Many colleges will use ACT scores to determine admission

The multiple-choice tests cover four skill areas: English Mathematics Reading Science

The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.

All juniors will take this exam March 3rd.

ASVAB Testing The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is the

most widely used multiple-aptitude test battery in the world. Measures strengths and weaknesses in four areas:

Arithmetic Reasoning Word Knowledge Paragraph Comprehension Mathematics Knowledge

Provides career information for various civilian and military occupations

Can be used to indicate future success in college, vocational school, or a military career.

There is no obligation to join the military Deadline: October 21st Cost: FREE Exam Date: November

AP Exams

AP courses provide high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses and achieve college credit or advanced placement.

These courses help students: Raise their GPA Stand Out in College Admissions Earn College Credits Skip Introductory Classes

AP Exams are May 4-15th . The specific date is determined by the course.

ACT WorkKeys

ACT WorkKeys is a job skills assessment test and part of ACT’s Work Readiness System.

Students enrolled in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway will take this exam prior to graduation.

Successful completion of ACT WorkKeys assessments in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information can lead to earning ACT's National Career Readiness Certificate (ACT NCRC)

It is a Senior Exam given in December (January Graduates) and February (June Graduates)
