What is Geography?

Geography is……...the study of the physical features of the earth and its atmosphere, and of human activity as it affects and is affected by these, including the distribution of populations and resources, land use, and industries.

5 Themes of Geography● Location

● Region

Locationabsolute location: the precise location of a place. (street address, latitude and longitude, etc.)

relative location:where something is in relation to its environment and surroundings. (100 miles from Denver, in Central Colorado, in the Arkansas River Valley, etc.)

Place place the human, physical, and cultural characteristics of a location

● human and cultural characteristics include: human-designed features, architecture, forms of livelihood, religion, etc.
