What does Jesus think about worry?

Matthew 6:25-34 “So I tell you to stop worrying about what you will eat, drink, or wear. Isn't life more than food and the body more

more than clothes? Look at the birds. They don't plant,

harvest, or gather the harvest into barns. Yet, your heavenly Father feeds them.

Aren't you worth more than they? Can any of you add a

single hour to your life by worrying? And why worry

about clothes? Notice how

the flowers grow in the field. They never work or spin yarn

for clothes. But I say that not even Solomon in all his majesty was dressed like

one of these flowers.

That's the way God clothes the grass in the field. Today it's alive, and tomorrow it's thrown into an incinerator. So how much more will he

clothe you people who have so little faith? Don't ever

worry and say, 'What are we going to eat?' or 'What are

we going to drink?' or 'What

are we going to wear?' Everyone is concerned about

these things, and your heavenly Father certainly

knows you need all of them.

But first, be concerned about his kingdom and what has

his approval. Then all these things will be provided for you. So don't ever worry

about tomorrow. After all, tomorrow will worry about

itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

1. Worry is a sin.

2. Worry is an effective tool of satan that he uses to ruin

our lives.

Satan uses worry to destroy our physical health.

Satan uses worry to destroy our spiritual health. Satan uses worry to destroy our spiritual health. Satan uses worry to destroy our spiritual health. Satan uses worry to destroy our spiritual health.

Satan uses worry to destroy our spiritual health.

“Worry is a thin stream of fear that trickles through the mind, which, if encouraged, will cut a channel so wide

that all other thoughts will be drained out.”

3. Fear is the root of worry.

Fear removes faith.

“The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever puts his

trust in the Lord shall be safe.” Proverbs 29:25

Focus on obedience and let Christ focus on outcome.

4. The only way to overcome this fear is to quit

trusting in anything other than Jesus.

How do we know that we can trust Jesus with our lives?

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”

1 Peter 5:7

“No fear exists where His love is. Rather, perfect love gets rid of fear, because fear involves torment. The person who lives

in fear doesn't have perfect love.” 1 John 4:18

Jesus asks you this question today, “Has your worry ever

made anything good happen?”

Jesus thinks

But first be concerned about His kingdom and what has

His approval. Then all these things will be provided for

you. (Matt. 6:33)

John14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart he troubled, neither let

it be afraid.”

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

“The steadfast of mind you will keep in perfect peace, because

he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for in God and the

Lord, we have an everlasting Rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4

Our antidote to fear and worry is fellowship with the

Father, Son and Spirit.

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto

them; but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that

heard it!” Hebrews 4:2
