BAKER'S LODGE
Welcome to
Baker's Lodge
Opened in 2015, Baker’s Lodge boasts ten
beautifully appointed safari suites on raised

mighty Nile River. Named after the English

view the falls and name it – the lodge
rests amongst large shady trees and wetland

An oasis on the banks of
the Nile
Baker’s Lodge is a tranquil retreat where
guests enjoy an abundance of bird life
along the water’s edge and a place where
hippos and elephants are regular visitors.
With a thatched central lounge, dining and
bar area, this eco-friendly lodge offers an
‘Africa of olde’ feel. Outside dining of
multi course meals served by attentive
staff is a real treat.
Beat the African heat
Cool off in the refreshing swimming pool,
lounge with a book under shady trees as
the river flows gently by, and round the
day off with a sundowner or two. The
sunsets here are truly magical.
We recommend a stay of 3 – 5 nights to
fully unwind and appreciate this slice of
paradise. Not to mention this will give you
the time you need to explore Murchison
Falls National Park and its surrounding
areas.
Relaxed riverside dining
Your room with a viewEach of the thatched safari suites is
raised from the ground on supporting
pillars with its own deck overlooking
the river.
You may well spot our resident hippo
pod wallowing in the shallows just
steps from your room, which are
spaced far apart allowing ultimate
guest privacy.
Rest easy by the NileYour large, airy safari suite is fan
cooled, with netted windows,
customised wooden furniture, hanging
mosquito nets and specially selected
locally crafted accessories.
The luxurious en-suite bathrooms
offer solar heated showers, with some
cottages also having bathtubs.
Savour the vistas
River cruises and safarisWe operate a modern fleet of boats from
our base in Murchison Falls. Our boat
safaris can be done on a scheduled or
private basis.
A cruise to the head of Fajao Gorge at
the base of Murchison Falls is the
perfect way to witness the full power
and splendour of the falls.
Bottom of the falls cruise
Nile Delta cruise
This leisurely cruise down to Lake
Albert offers the opportunity to spot
elephant, hippo and large Nile
crocodiles. The delta is home to rare
wetland birds including the elusive
shoebill.
Sunrise or sunset cruise
Watch the river awaken on an early
morning cruise or bring your day to a
close by savouring splendid sunsets on
the Nile. Enjoy your morning cruise
with the option of freshly brewed
coffee and home-style cooked
breakfast. Sundowners and a selection
of snacks available on sunset cruises.
Fishing safarisAt Baker's Lodge we offer one of the best
fishing charter services in the region.
Since 1997 when we launched our first
boat in Uganda, we have hosted many
anglers from all over the world
including Jeremy Wade (host of 'River
Monsters') and Zeb Hogan (host of
'Monster Fish' on NatGeo TV). Cast a
line and wait in anticipation to catch
the iconic Nile perch, catfish or tiger
fish.
We operate on a strict catch and release
policy. Fishing is generally conducted
from the rocks on the riverbanks below
the falls, or slightly downstream in the
pools from a boat.
Fishing can be done all year round, but
the drier months produce better fishing
results (Dec - Mar and Jun – Oct)

Incredible, rare sightings
Life abounds along the Nile...With Africa's longest river at the doorstep of
Baker's Lodge, life abounds along the Nile's
banks, as well as within Murchison Falls
National Park.
Murchison Falls NP is Uganda's largest national park and together
with adjoining wildlife reserves it covers 50,000 square kilometers.
It’s a beautiful park with vast plains and wooded areas, bordering
Lake Albert. Game viewing is abundant with huge elephant, buffalo,
giraffe and Ugandan kob herds, while leopard and lions may also be
spotted.
The Nile has created a vast network of channels and swamps for
wildlife to thrive in and the river offers spectacular opportunities
for bird watchers, with vibrant Bee-eaters nesting in the cliffs along
the river's bank. If you are lucky, you may well spot the prehistoric
looking shoebill.
