These guidlines have been developed to provide you with an outline of the Worcester Students’ Union brand.The purpose of this information is to give you an introduction for use of the Union logo and colour palette to be used to bring all students’ union services together as one brand. This is to be used in all our future Union communication both internally and externally. The information containedcontained within, presents an outline to the overall essence of the Union brand.

Please note: when referring to the Union in any written document, in the first instance you should always use the full name of ‘Worcester Students’ Union’, following on from this you should refer to ‘the Students’ Union’ or ‘the Union’. And always remember to insert the apostrophe after the S’ of Students’ Union in any context.The first letters ‘S’ and ‘U’ should always be in capitals.

The Brand Model presents an outline to the essence of the Worcester Students’ Union’s brand. These values should be adhered to at all times while working for the Students’ Union and should be considered prior to all major forms of communication.

‘To provide effective representation and a range of member led services that are a consistently high quality and embrace the needs of our members’.

Representation - Through our democratic structures, we represent our members views and interests, individually and collectively, primarily to the University but also to other organisations as appropriate.

Activities - Non-academic activities, such as sports,societies, volunteering and democratic representation are key to enhancing experience and employability.

ServicesServices - We provide valuable, relevant services such as student advice, social space and entertainments, retail and employment to further enhance the university experience.

The brand colours on this page should be used at all times and no variants should be used on anything. The colours are given with a CYMK and RGB reference.

Background 1 is to be used as a background base on all communication materials instead of plain white. Watermark 1 is the colour which the Union’s watermark should be if stationary ever needs to be redesigned.

It is important that the logos below are used at all times with no othercolour variants.

The Brand logo on a white background. This should be used wherever possible.

DO NOT USE ANY OTHER COLOUR COMBINATIONS - The logo must always be shown in the colour combinations shown on this page

DO NOT STRETCH OR SQUASH THE LOGO - The logo must be kept in its orginial proportions and must not be distorted in any way.

The Brand logo on coloured background. Use this blue wherever possible.

Please follow the guidelines below when producing any powerpoint presentation.

When producing a powerpoint presentation please use the above template which can be found on the Shared Drive - Branding Guidelines - The Students’ Union Presentation template.

Please always use Verdana font throughout the entire presentation.

If you are doing a presentation about a sub-brand for the If you are doing a presentation about a sub-brand for the Students’ Union for example Advice, then you should use the Advice logo instead but in the same place as the logos above.

Emergency Posters/ Notices

This poster can be used if you need to get a message out about something at the last minute. It can be used for an A4 poster or an A5 flyer.

The Title must always be in Verdana Bold, the sub title Verdana Regular and both must be in Blue 1 as specified on page 3. The smaller writing must be alson in Verdana but in Black.

InIn this example of the A4 poster the font sizes are Title - 50pt, Sub-title 30pt, Small print - 20pt. This should be used as best you can but obviously for the A5 notice this will need to be scaled down but in proportion.

The template for this is saved on the shared drive in JPEG format which can be used as a background in publisher and other design programmes.

The logos below are to be used for the student advice service, bar and shop within the union services. These logos should be used along side the Union logo. All sub brand logos can be found on the shared drive.Poster templates for each sub brand are also on the shared drive.

All brands of Worcester Students’ Union have their own poster templates.If you are promoting an event, campaign or promotion for Student AdviceService, Money Doctors, Campus Shop or the Dive Bar please make sure you use the appropriate template.
