Student Internship Program:All levels – must be enrolled ½ time

• Full or part time work experience; Interns can be hiredon a temporary basis for up to 1 year or for anindefinite period; Includes leave and other benefits;

• Interns may be non-competitively converted to apermanent position or term position of 1-4 years atwithin 120 days of successful completion of theprogram;

• Interns must complete a minimum of 640 hours ofwork, finish their degree or certificate requirements,and have performed successfully;

Recent Graduates: • 1-year management training program for individuals who have

completed qualifying educational programs within the preceding 2 years

• Exceptions for certain veterans

Presidential Management Fellows Program: • 2-year management training program for individuals who have

completed an advanced degree programs within the last 2 years

Other Special Hiring Authorities

• Schedule A: is an excepted authority that agencies can use toappoint eligible candidates, including veterans, who have a severephysical, psychological, or intellectual disability

• Military Spouse Appointing Authority: allows agencies to appoint amilitary spouse without competition IN SOME CASES.
